Total value of my collection is...

Eh ... I don't want to know.

Shipping from the states to me here in Australia isn't cheap either. You like the idea of $100 in shipping?

I'd be scared of your number too, judging by your product collection

Paul: I was actually planning on calculating everything after I make one last(hopefully) trip to Pal's for my foam gun. I don't know if it will top you, but its definately a nice chunk of change.

I've finally learned the hard way that there is no need to try everything. In my opinion, most of the stuff is hyped up and then fades away.

True. I've found a ton of products that I like a lot, so I have no reason to keep trying everything. I know what works for me now, and I'll use it all up before looking into new products. Things like 303 and S&G, I'll continue to buy in bulk sizes.

No I don't. But I guess you have three choices:

Order only locally-available products.

Pay the shipping charges from the States.

Get yourself a dingy and an electric motor and make your way over to pick up products in person.

The wife always has a talk with me about once a month when the AMEX bill arrives. No more supplies till you do some more details. Yes dear, whatever you say dear.

I then call a friend and figure out what products we want to split next. He places the order.

I am not going to add it all up either but i know it is more than some and less than others. I know that i am on the 1000 dollars list that gives a discount that CMA provides as an incentive to buy more. this is just one vendor so I do not want to add up all the others that support this particular site.

It would be a lot. Probably to much but the kids are not hungry....yet!!

I had been wanting to add up the cost of all of my detailing supplies and equipment. Today I was waiting for the UPS guy to bring me my 12 chemical-resistant spray bottles from US Plastics. I live in an apartment building and wonder about some of the others in the building, so I prefer not to leave my packages in the hallway. So I decided that I might as well take an inventory and take a look over all of my receipts. :think2 I lost some of the receipts, so those products were priced according to the going rate at the website I originally purchased from.

My money was divided up among these retailers:

http://www.Autopia-carcare.com - $358.50

http://www.Exceldetail.com - $ 533.84

http://www.Autogeek.net - $686.28

Other (Winner's Circle, Specialty Motoring, Top of the Line, CoastalTool, Meg's, Poorboy's World...) - $883.50

Autopia member for: 2 years

Money spent on detailing products: $2462.12!

I must admit that I had a suspicion it was between $2K and $2.5K.

The best part is, I use all of it except maybe $75 worth. Most of my cheap stuff that I started out with has been given away, so it wasn't included here. Neither was tax or shipping charges.

In case anyone is really interested in reading the long line of products, here you go: :lol

Now when will spring come so I can use some of this stuff??? 4 months of using nothing but QEW, QD, towels, tire gel, and an occasional wax is not enough!

New members beware...

You could be like me in a couple years! :soscared:

I think you need to seek professional help or go to detailer's anonymous :D Will you be able to use all those products in this life time?

Will anyone else join in and add up their collections?

I definitely have the time to do this, but I think I would cry if I ever saw the actual number. Rough estimate I would say it has to be close to $3,000.

LOL I can't believe you quoted my enormous post!

But yeah, I will easily use them all. I only have doubles of a few products, and large sizes of the products I use the most. I've already used a gallon of S&G since August, and I've already gone through 3.5 bottles of QEW since then as well.

I always find it interesting when looking at people's collections to see who has a lot of dups and who has a lot of variety.

It wears off, at least it did for me. 2 years ago, I would've bought anything new on the market just to try out. Now I'm stuck with a huge shelf of products I don't touch anymore. Now I'm just buying stuff when I need it.

That happened to me. I started only replacing items I knew I liked and not trying anything new. This lasted for 3 years and I went from 2 shelves of products to less than 1 shelf. Now detailing fever has hit me harder than ever. I quickly have ballooned to 3 shelves of products. FYI, the shelves in my garage are wide and deep. That's just the chemicals too. I've bought more towels, brushes, sponges, wash mitts, applicators and much more.

I started to make a spreadsheet of all my products, but never finished, life intervenes :o I was up over the 2k mark on products before I stopped, I'm kind of scared to finish it :o
