This customer just bought the car recently and wanted to get it cleaned up a bit. The previous owner was a snowbird so it mostly sat, but the paint wasnt kept up too well, looked like multiple auto-washes,etc. So we set up the detail, and I spent a couple days to get it back in shape. It was moderately difficult to get the defects back out of the paint, but we got it to about 95% corrected. Anyways, on to the pics!

Oops, I forgot to post all of that. I used SIP/LC Orange, the follow it with PO85rd/Black. I was sort of on a time constraint, which is why I skipped the intermediate step, but the SIP finished very nicely on the Infiniti paint that it seemed OK to go straight to final polishing.

Say what??? I think SIP dusts horribly.

The fx does look great.

From my experience over the last couple days, the SIP hardly dusts at all on the orange pad(unless i bump it on something or go over an edge of course) and if I use SIP on a wool pad or PFW it definitely does dust pretty bad...just my experience! Thanks for the compliment!

BigAl3, you can see a reflection of a Dewalt 849 rotary in one of the pics, look closely. I assume this is what all of the work was done with.

For the SIP/Orange I start at 1800rpm, then work down from there.

Then I did PO85rd/Black at 1400rpms and worked down until finished.

You say you started at 1800 and worked down. How quickly were you moving the rotary at that speed? I typically spread the product at a low speed and then start at 1000 1200 1400 then work down. Do you feel that I might yield a better or similar result your way? the vehicle looked great!

1800 is a bit high and not always necessary, but from what I understand you should start with a higher speed to work down the abrasives and then work down from there. If I am correct, most polishes have diminishing abrasives, meaning the break down from large to small..so you would want the most speed at the beginning for the best cut and then as the particles get smaller they polish more at lower speeds for a better finish...
