The difference between a cheap car wash shampoo and a expensive car wash shampoo

Man, if you have a half of gallon of NXT wash, you might as well use it and not worry too much about saving a couple of bucks a year from now. I've got more shampoo than I know what to do with right now.

For what it's worth, shampoo IMO is not one thing to skimp on. The difference between one shampoo and another can be a big difference. I've got 2 gallons of #62, brand new sitting here and I probably won't use it on my car because I felt it was pretty strong stuff. A lot of people have said they don't like the Pinnacle Shampoo, well I really like it and haven't found it to be hard on wax. Right now my list includes, #00, #62, GC- yuck, NXT, Pinnacle, EF PW+, Clearkote, QEW, Perls, Platinum, EO, and TW Zip Wax. I haven't tried Perls, but right now my favorite is Pinnacle. I haven't tried NXT, Perls though. My next one will be Griots based on Accumulators recommendation.

So basicly every car wash has the same results except for smell, lubricity and suds??

I suspect that's a gross over-simplification. Each of the products has its own characteristic. Some harm your recent wax job, others don't. Some leave a little water-soluble wax behind. Some are much better for hard water and water spotting. Some offer a sensual experience while others satisfy with a low price.

I want a shampoo that has good lubricity, smells good, has lots of suds, cleans well and doesn't harm wax. Which one should I choose :nixweiss?? I don't mine buying 2 or more shampoo as long as they're cheap.

Agree. 100%. I really like Kit Carnauba Car Wash.

Thought I was the only one here that uses that stuff. It works really well for people who rarely wax their car. It leaves a nice finish too, however it will leave a white wax residue on some trim pieces after a few washes.

Well, I don't know if any of us have objective and conclusive evidence about which harm waxes and which don't.

If you are looking for an excellent product that is low cost, I'd strongly suggest heading to Target and getting the 1 gallon size Meguiar's Gold Class shampoo for $10. It's a great bargain and that amount of shampoo will last the average user a long time.

I use 1 tablespoon in 2 gallons of water. It does a very decent job for the $$.

You really can't go wrong with most of the washes listed here. Just try one of them. If you like it, great! If not, finish it off by using 3-4x the amount washing the rims and buy something else.

I hope Target is in Canada too :(. No Target for Canadians.

I don't know about anybody else, but if there exists a car shampoo that has good lubricity, smells good, has lots of suds, cleans well, doesn't harm wax, AND is cheap - I would think everybody would use it.

Didn't you say you have NXT car wash?

No. It's only a list I maded up. The only shampoo I have right now is MOTHERS california gold but it's almost done so I need to get new soap :)

I personally reccomend QEW but thats just me ;)

GC is okay for the $$, if its expensive in Canada though, then its not worth it...

Anybody used this Cherry wash? I forget the name but I saw it at Advance Auto Parts it was like $4 a gallon and it smelled fantastic...

Duragloss has a great car wash soap, it just can be hard to find. Amazing suds, slippery feeling, smells great and does a good job of cleaning.

I like Gold Class with a squirt of #00 or #62 in it.

I also like Sonax with a squirt of #00 or #62 in it.

I just bought a bottle of NXT wash to try on its own.

I have Pinnacle and P21s but feel they are way too much money (they smell great though!)

Basically, for convenience sake, I'll settle with GC mixed with a dab of #00 since I can buy both in my neighborhood.

Why don't you Canadians drive to the US and stock up?? :D

ROAD TRIP!!!!!

Not simoniz. that's the company that have the 5 year paint protection kit that contains Teflon.

It's a load of BS.

I only use shampoo for cleaning chrome and alloy wheels, never use it on cars, especially late model ones.

I would say go with the NXT because its available locally, smells good and when I was playing with it in the sink today, it felt like it had good lubricity and its fairly cheap. If anything, its a more advanced technology than GC.

Thats what I do ... I have to go to Colville Wash. on Tuesday for a funeral .. Wal-Mart here I come !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too bad there is no autozone or pepboys there.

Here are some of my thoughts....

I've tried Perls and think it cleans well and is also gentle on wax, but it has a MAJOR downside.......it has poor lubricity.

My favorite OTC wash is EagleOne, has good lubricity and is very gentle (and smells great).

Gold Class, IMO, performs about as well as the rest of the Gold Class line (sux). Very poor lubricity...

My two favorite boutique washes are p21S and Zaino.

How about this list, good thing is, I can get all these locally :D

- EO wet shampoo

- NXT wash (if they put it up)

- TW Zip Wax (for rims) :D

- Megs Deep Crystal wash

I don't know if I can get #62 here in Lordco. If so, I may get it.

I go over the border to Niagara Falls NY and pick up 1 gallon jugs of Megs Gold Class. Last time I did this it was on sale for $7.99 at Target.

I tried p21S shampoo ( the green stuff) and this is the most over rated shampoo I have used. It produced almost no suds, the lubricity was crap it felt like there was no soap in the bucket and I was just using water. It also didn't do a very good job of cleaning and my car wasn't that dirty. Sure it smells good but I don't drink my car wash shampoo so I really don't care how they smell.
