The difference between a cheap car wash shampoo and a expensive car wash shampoo

..are really bumming me out with the Pinnacle comments and concerns. I have been a big fan of the product and still have a 1/2 gallon sitting in the basement. :(

I know this specific issue comes up now and again. I wish we could be more scientific and have some evidence of whether the stuff is more effective at stripping wax than DAWN... I sure would put my supply away...would not think twice about it.

Washing my cars with a wax-stripping shampoo is the last thing in the world I need.

I still really like the Pinnacle! I haven't found it to be overly harsh on wax, maybe I haven't been using to the correct dillution ratios.

Water is the one variable that makes a shampoo great or flat. I have traveled the U.S. towing my car behind the motorhome. In Florida my P21S was a great shampoo. In Maine it made no suds and lost any sign of lubricity. Finally, I washed the car using distilled water from a neighbors motorhome that had a built in water distillation system. My conclusion: distilled water makes any shampoo better.

I use P21S or Griot's or Zymol.

I agree the quality of water is a wildcard factor in the the effectiveness of shampoo's. For example, the "hardness" of water will definitely dictate the suds and/or the amount of shampoo needed to suds up well. I also think it plays a role in "lubrication" feel of the shampoo in the water. Besides distilled water, "softened" water will suds much better and feels "slicker" in my opinion.
