The Best LSP For Preventing Maring/Swirls?

Can NXT be used over the Zaino products? Also as far as Quick Wax goes, can this product be used in the same fashion a QD can? I find the Megs Ultimate Quick Detailer to be a big help while in the drying process.

NXT can be used over Zaino or any other product as it has cleaners/bonding agents. You can use Zaino over NXT too without major issues (though durability perhaps might suffer a bit).

You can use Ultimate Quick Wax just like you use the detailer for drying. The one thing you shouldn't use the UQW for is to clean off a slightly dirty/dusty car.

Don't you mean "NXT *CANNOT* be used..." ;)

Assuming that's true....Hey, this is another thing we disagree about :chuckle:

I've used NXT over top of sorta-fragile stuff that fills (SRP, 1Z's WPS) and the NXT didn't clean off the previously-applied product. I know a few people who use it over/after the Meg's Pure Polishes too. Lots of variables though...

My theory is if the cleaners in it don't remove the underlying product, then its not going to be a problem. The reality of it is, both NXT and Z2/Z5 have enough solvents in them to remove tar and paint, so they likely will remove whatever LSP you have on the car. Will that turn into some sort of 1/2 and 1/2 mixed product, maybe, but you'll get the look of whatever product you put on top, but might sacrifice some of the durability.

Right! It's that "if" that makes all the difference, huh?

Heh heh, I can usually remove tar/etc. with most *any* LSP ;) Well, as long as the tar/etc. isn't all that bad. IMO the whole solvents/cleaners in NXT/etc. topic is one of those "you won't know until *you* try it" things...I remember how somebody here messed up a good coat of 476S by topping it with Souveran, I sure wouldn't have expected that!

Gee, we're :argue again :chuckle:

Lol. I do agree with you on a scientific level. But on a practical real life level, its a moot point when it comes to results.

Yeah, it's what actually happens that matters :xyxthumbs

You and I just have some weird cases where our experiences differ so much that sometimes it's like we're in parallel universes or something :chuckle: Heh heh, at least it keeps things interesting!

"...we're in parallel universes or something"

I saw that in a Twilight Zone episode! Now, for real, on Autopia!

Big fan here of the (original) Twilight Zone! Gotta love an Autopia version!

Dan- thanks for the recommendation. I will give the NXT a shot and see how the filling agents really work. I have a full bottle of Megs UQD: is this product compatible with the NXT?

Yep, all the Meg's products play nicely. Best part about NXT, if you don't like it, Meg's will give you your money back. Some people don't care for the over the top gloss look, but if you are a Zaino fan you'll be just fine with it.

I actually miss the way Zaino looked on the black car, if you're suggesting the nxt is similar, than even better. Does the UQD affect the filling properties of NXT at all?

They both have individual looks but both product that mirror looking black (vs deep dark black). UQD has its own fillers so I can't say for sure how it affects the ones in NXT, but both work really well on light swirling/marring that occur from washing.

Dan- Ah, interesting about the UQD's fillers. Is it, uhm...Accumulator-proof or do you have to watch out for streaking/etc.?

From my two years using UQD, it's relatively user friendly. I've never hard to put added elbow grease to remove the product, but again I never let it sit for no more than 20-30 seconds and in a shaded area.

I haven't had streaking issues, so that means you will! It is pretty bubba proof like most of Meguairs products, but I imagine you would get streaking on a hot surface.

Striker & Dan- OK, thanks! I sometimes wonder if I get too caught up in ordering non-OTC stuff and miss out on something good that's "not some fancy pro product". And anyhow, I find reasons to justify having all sorts of different QDs around anyhow; seems like one or another is sometimes *just right* for some reason.

Oh, and heh heh...yeah, Dan, given our differences that probably *does* mean that I'll be having some kind of wacky issues :chuckle:

Ordering "pro" products off the web is really a pain at times, especially when you're in Canada like me, PLUS you have to wait for it to arrive either way. The convenience of walking into a store and picking something up off the shelf that still works great is very appealing to me. Having said that, I do like all the megs products I've used.

Yeah, I do love boutique stuff, but for a guaranteed solid hitter, its hard to beat Meguiars stuff. Readily available and incredible range. Not the best at anything, but do everything fairly well. The reason I keep sneaking back to NXT is the results for how little time is involved.
