Opti Seal

I remember OCW being described as water-based, which is why you need to shake it all the time because the wax in there is suspended rather than dissolved.

OMG...solvent on paint! :shocked

Uhhh guys (and girls too)....water IS a solvent. Water is sometimes referred to as the univeral solvent because it dissolves more substances than any other liquid. Do we not use a solvent on our paint when washing?

So wait, when my bottles of OCW separate, the white liquid on the bottom is wax, and the clear-ish liquid is what?

OT: my bottle of PC'd OCW doesn't seem to seperate....weird

I should be getting OS within the next few days, so it will be interesting to try OCW/OS or OS/OCW combos.

Got mine Friday. Came out great on my 2004 Cobra. I did not get a chance to take a pic, sorry. One thing, I did have a learning curve, as I had a few spots that streaked. They came out easy using some PB Spray and Wipe. The looks are incredible. Hopefully I can get down the number of pumps for one car. I would say I used close to 6-7 for the entire car.

Thanks again for any help and a great product.

I didnt have any streaking, but I am sure that you will recitify it. Glad you loved the look. It really did blow me away.

Exactly! Water is natures solvent so if water is a "high solvent content" then waxes and polymers alike would be in trouble with each wash....and rain .

What seperates and settles to the bottom (the white liquid) in the OCW are the UV absorbers as they are heavy. One turn upside down mixes it all back together.

Not sure why you believe OCW to have such a "high solvent content".....but anyway, in our testing we have found all the Optimum products to be compatible, such as Opti-Seal on Poli-Seal, OCW on top of Poli-Seal and also Opti-Seal. Opti-Seal is also compatible with other products we have tried it with such as carnauba paste waxes and polishes......and again, it has no acrylics or silicones.

Maybe I should have been clearer. Solvent in my question pertain to any solvent (i.e alcohol, water, oils).

So with this clarification will any of these substances effect OS curing or cause removal during the curing period?

The reason I asked IS because one must use caution during the polymer curing stage which is completely different than just drying or dissipation of the carrier agent. It as been noted by many OS users that slickness and appearance clues have/will increase as OS cures. Will these enhancements be interfered with by any substance (solvent) introduced during this vital period? After curing water would not longer be include in this list of solvents.

If so can one "burnish" with water, which has been used for years to promote wax leveling, gloss and depth (spit shine per se)?

Being such a new product would it not be nice to learn the what's and how's on achieving the best results. :nixweiss

CS can not be handled the before mention ways prior to curing.

TIA

Of course. Water: universal solvent.

I think that a product water based will need more time to fully cure that other solvent based, with other solvents I mean.

Here is a really bad pic of the H2 with OS on it...My camera should be back tonight, and I will be able to get a few better pics.

Anyone have an answer about curing time?:wavey

All I can tell you is that I applied a 2nd coat within an hour of applying the first coat. No problems whatsoever...
