Anyone else listen to music while washing or detailing?

I always find myself listening to music when I'm doing a detail or just washing a car. It helps me work longer without thinking "Jeez this is taking a while" and I'm also more meticulous about things :lol
I started wondering how many of you here at DC listen to music while you're working, and if so what kind? I mix it up a little bit with a small amount of metal, some old/new rock and some country.
I guess music's my energizer bunny :D

I actually listen to my iPod whenever I am out detailing, whether it is my car or a customers. I just hit random play and get to work.

CD's I will most commonly listen to: Stevie Ray Vaughan. Kenny wayne shepherd. John Mayer. Allman brothers. Derek Trucks. Govt Mule. Eric Clapton. Crosby Stills Nash Young. Jack Johnson.

Radio: Acoustic performances, and classic rock.

Although my home listening set-up would be considered upper end, my outside listening is quite low end. An old tabletop AM/FM radio which currently plays either "new" country & western or 60's/70s classic.

I'm highly motivated by music. My serious listening is comprised of a much more eclectic mix. :D

I always got the head phones on with some slipknot or mudvayne playing. :rockin :headbang :headbang :mohawk

local country western station or the jazz station. I find that most stations are only geared for about 3 hours then you start to hear the same songs over and over.

When I am in Texas I listen to the ESPN staion in the morning and if the weather is not to hot i listen to what ever sport event is on in the afternoon. When I am in Alaska i usually have someone helping with the detail asking questions as to what i am doing. So the radio is off to here the questions. Guess i am just an old guy. Mostly i hear the sound of the pc or the rotary. Which ever i am using. I really only hear the radio when i am buffing off by hand.

I've got a 4GB iPod mini that I use while detailing, I like pretty much everything from techo, country and metal, to classical. I have a couple of different playlists, set up in general order of pace/intensity. For most work, I listen to the slower ones, but when time's running late and I've gotta pack an hours work into 40 minutes, I kick in the faster danceish stuff.

A couple on the job favorites

David Ball - Riding with Private Malone (car related)
Alan Jackson - The Talkin' song (same)
Foghat - Slow Ride (usually when I have some slow and intricate work to do)
Dj Desire - Drive Me Crazy (good one as time is winding down)

I've noticed that too. Q 105 has a lot of commercials, and Froggy's "12 in a Row" always consists of at least 2-3 of the same songs every time. It's amazing how many times you can hear one song on the radio throughout the day if you listen to the same station all day long.

old time country music on the radio makes things smooth and heavy metal or system of the down when we really need to get some cars done pronto

yes, i listen to music when i do things that tend to be long and tiring. this would include detailing and when im trying to work out independently (alone). i set my ipod's playlists to the mood im in. if im feeling rock, i listen to rock, oldies, then i go to oldies, or if i need a little inspiration, music from some motion pictures, etc etc. good fun.

Like a rock

I interviewed years back for a sales job with a local western station. I was told that most all radio stations are geared for about 3 to 4 hours. This is what they figure the AVERAGE listener is going to listen in a given day. Commuters are there target market. I work at home and listen to a station down your way Alice Radio and after about 5 hours I have to turn it off drives me crazy to keep hearing the popular songs over and over again.

Lately i've been putting on a set of headphones for when I polish and wax.
I'll usually throw in one of my many club compilations or if the cars that bad and I just want to finish, Senses Fail and My Chemical Romance get the job done.

Gotta bump the tunes! I like rock, hip-hop, techno and pop. A mix of everything is great and it really passes the time. Some red-bull and mountain dew's always get me going too! :rockin
