.... and Kevin Farrell, from Kleen Car, let me use some pads from a small company called, I think, "American Buffing" (?) and let me tell ya, these pads ROCKED! I fell in love with them all and I took most of them home with me:woot:

They have all sizes, from 4 inch pads to what looks to be 8 inch pads. Their finishing pads are like foam velvet. I'll be sharing more of about their buffing properties as I become familiar with them.

Ah yes, American Buffing. I stumbled across their site last year ( I assume it was americanbuffing.com, if not, gotta re-Google) but it seemed very hard to get more information about them. I had e mailed them and they said they were going to send me info but never did :(. I can look for the site again and a way to buy them.

My initial impression is that do a lot of private labeling, :nixweiss like LC but are not know as both private labelers and by their own name as LC is :nixweiss

I have not dealt personally with the company, I believe the owners name is Dave, but that's about all I know at this point.

I do have several of the pads and I'll be using them through out the week and I'll be sure to post up my findings.

Good afternoon, Gentlemen:

I'd just like to chime in here and shed some light on this situation.

American Buffing Company is not a retail company. We sell to international retailers and distributors. We are simply not set up to handle retail customers.

Now, with that said... "no" is an extremely difficult word to say when you're talking to a potential customer, large or small...

A few of our products leaked out to the end-user market because we were too lax in our sales policies. Before I knew it, my e-mail was getting hit daily with dozens of requests for more information and price lists because those folks started spreading the word on forums such as these about the new kids on the block with the new pads. Unfortunately, we're still paying for those mistakes today.

I apologize to anyone who was inconvenienced or offended at the lack of response to said inquiries.

There are some exciting things coming off the line here at ABC, and some even more exciting things working their way through the patent courts and prototype phases.

The problem is one that has already been stated... we're not out to push our name in the retail market. We do a great deal of private labeling, and almost everything else we make is printed without any brand name at all. That may change in the future... that remains to be seen.

There's really not much else I can say on the subject right now. American Buffing is a company that is still in its infancy. We're growing very rapidly, so we're in a state of almost constant change. I have open orders right now for April alone that are only about 5% off gross sales for ALL of 2004. So we're extremely busy and just hoping that when all this dust settles, we're still around and haven't left any of our current customers out in the cold.

In the mean time, we'll continue to work days, nights, weekends and all hours inbetween so that in the future (near future, hopefully) our products will move past the body shops and detailers into the hands of the home detailing enthusiasts such as yourselves.

I'll have to check with the forum administrators or the FAQ to see what's allowed... but maybe I can provide you guys with some websites and other retail locations where you might find our pads now or in the very near future.

I'll look into that later.

I've been on and off the phone about 10 times since I hit the "post reply" button 2 hours ago. So you'll have to excuse the scatter-brained format.

Until next time-

-Mike

That list of contacts would be appreciated :)

Mike,

You and Dave are now going to have to pay for that response; in accordance to the new policy on Autopia.....

Moderators, please don't hesitate to delete my response if it's in any way against policy.

I don't see a link on here to any sort of code of conduct, but I'll admit I didn't look too hard.

Shame on me. :o

David Bynon; "The Mayor", has a new policy for vendors and manufacturers....pay to post. Hence why Forrest of MOTHERS & Eric Dunn from Lake Country are now gone....also the nature of my reply can be equated to this ;)

Ahh, I see.

I think I just heard the price of one of my pads go up by a nickel. :chuckle:

Kidding! I'll behave.

Can you maybe post a link to the code of conduct where you saw that policy?

Following the rules is always a plus.

Gentlemen,

I just read the ABC response. I read that as an explination as to why you can't get their product at a retail level. I don't think they were trying to drum up business. They sell wholesale and to the international community. I don't think there is a chance in the near future that they will sell to any of us. I haven't posted here in the past but this post might be my one and only. You'll probably never hear from ABC again. That also goes for me.

Thanks.

I created a special forum area called "Ask the Manufacturer" so that manufacturers have a place to communicate with members. The Ask The Manufacturers forum would be the correct place for the message from American Buffing (hey Mike... hey Dave!).
