What i did was clean both outside panels of my daily driving truck hood with DP WATERLESS WASH. The truck has no other protection on it as you can see by the center section of the hood.this truck is never washed ,is daily drivin and sits out side 24 hours a day, so i figured it would be a good true test for the products involved. On the drivers side i put 1 coat of FK1 2180 sealant and let dry to haze then removed. On the passenger side i put duragloss 601 left on and combined the 105 and let dry then removed. The start date for this test was NOV 21st 07 [day before thanksgiving]i will update the test randomly over time and post pics.

the first pic test done dec 16th 2007- my visual findings almost 4 weeks into test is they look ,bead, and feel identical to each other when it rains. when dry they look almost the same,i had someone who works for me look at the two panels[and he knows nothing about detailing] and he suggested the drivers side[2180] "This side looks a little more shiny than the other"

I'm very interested in this test -- as I'm a current DG user -- and thinking of purchasing some 2180. I'm most interested in "Dust Attraction". What have you noticed? 2180 is supposed to be "anti-static" technology. IMO, DG 105 is horrible for dust sticking to it.

2180 needs to be rubbed into the paint well and two or moe layers is needed.

Bence will chime in on this cause he know alot about Finish Kare products.

Quite surprise to hear #105 collected dust. I have been using it with no problem at all. The 2180 is difficult to remove but removing #105 is like a breeze.

Yes, 2180 can be difficult and very easy on the same day - it's that paint dependent. Some paints soak it up like dry sponge, yet on certain (usually newer) finishes it behaves like any normal sealant. It is one of the strangest detailing products I've ever tried. I love its appearance though...

Sorry to bring this back, but just wondering if there was a conclusion to this test as to how long each side lasted before finally being all gone.

I just tried this on my wife's car. I wanted to test it against Klasse. Although, I have the Klasse on my other car, I just needed to see how this holds up. So far, the ease of application and removal is amazing. It goes on nice and easy and comes off just as easy after allowing to sit for 15 minutes to haze (as per instructions). I also found that it does add a very nice gloss to the finish. Depth was not significantly better, but then again, depth only got a 3 out of 10, which gloss got a 10 out of 10, and I can see why. I did not apply any wax over it, simply because I want to see how it holds up by itself...sort of a little test. Anyway, so far in looks and ease of application, I am very happy....we'll see with durability.

I'm a bit surprised in the initial beading pictures, I know 2180 doesn't bead that well but I'm surprised to see 601+105 bead not so good either. I don't know why I thought it was a strong beader, maybe it's reputation for high durability.

601+105 has always beaded well for me.

Fwiw. I did a test not long ago with DG and Zaino on my hood. Both looked the same to me. Zaino was a little slicker, but both beaded and lasted 5-6 weeks before I stripped both products.

The beading in the original pictures on the silver pickup is pretty poor. In comparison Zaino beading looks like that at 4 months in my conditions and I consider it time for a new application.

The beading on the dark car is nice and indicates good protective quality.

I'm guessing the condition of the paint affects beading quality for a lot of sealants and probably waxes too. I'd say it probably affects durability as well. This is probably another aspect to why there are so many different results people get from the same products. Some products probably work just as well on older finishes while some that work great on a new finish don't work at all on an older/oxidized one.
