Zaino Z7 vs. Meguiars Gold Class Wash

Through a foam cannon at least, GC doesn't foam for crud.

I don't know if I have a magic cannon, but GC diluted through my cannon foams nicely. Thick, holding foam. :nixweiss

Maybe I will have to try a jug of that Zip Wax, or Turtle Wax ICE through it :hide: :dig

I know after using Gold Class, after 5 or so washes the slickness feeling after waxing would go away. Does the Z7 keep the slickness feeling? Honestly, I would not be surprised if the Gold Class is removing the wax. Maybe it doesn't have a neutral Ph level to it. Also, is Z7 good at preventing watter spotting? Another plus on the Z7 is the UV40 protection, since my car sees a good bit of the outside weather.

You're fooling yourself if you think the soap is really giving you any significant UV protection.

I have got to think that you're refering to meguairs over the counter line, not thier professionally designed products. Correct?[/QUOTE]

i'm with VaSuperShine here. meguiar's makes some great products. i still love using #80, #21, and #16's my goto paste wax. don't get me wrong, there are plenty of boutique brands out there that offer great results that i prefer over equivalent meguiar's products, but don't get caught up in the hype. meguiar's still makes a very high quality product and have been doing so for far longer than any of the new boutique brands. don't let yourself judge an entire line because you've experienced lower than expected results from a couple of products. if that was the case, i'd be hating zaino because i don't like z-pc all that much...but the truth is, i love z-2 pro and z-5 pro along with a few other of sal's creations. the same goes for menzerna, optimum, and all of the other brands i use.

Gold Class is a decent wash, pretty cheap too. Never used Z7.

Why not pick up some Duragloss, which would be cheaper than the Zaino, and probably just as good? IME it's very slick and sudsy.

Here I've tried a bunch of soaps, and I still haven't tried this one. Some of Autopia's most respected members swear by this stuff. I really need to get some. I believe that Accumulator uses that soap.

You must try Optimum's if you haven't. One of the best in my book.

Z7 is an outstanding car wash! It's a little pricey, but a little goes a long way!

Has anyone else noticed it doesn't seem to suds as well? Probably just me,but it doesn't seem to me like I'm getting quite as many suds as usual.

never tried Z7 but between DG and GC id have to pick GC for me.GC suds up real nicely and i feel that it offers more lubricity than DG, lasts a bit longer too IME .im thinking it has to do with how hard the water is,probably why DG never lasted as long as much as id like it to compared to GC.

makes a great mix when added to ONR used in a hand pump sprayer too, 1 cap full of DG to 1 ounce of ONR.

It has crap for lubrication, it doesn't clean well, and doesn't foam for shucks compared to Z7 (or alot of other soaps, really). I've never used it on a car that had LSP on it, so I don't know if it strips LSP or not. When I was doing the vast majority of my soap testing, my car was quite LSP free. :)

Z7 is completely LSP safe, so it does help maintain the slickness of your LSP. It does not, however, appear to help fight water spots like CW&G does. I think CW&G has a rinse agent in it, similar to what they put in automatic dishwashing detergent (like Cascade). It makes it a bit harder to rinse, but then again maybe I'm rinsing *too* much and fighting the rinse agent.

As far as splitting hairs, I don't think so. Is it any more senseless to discuss the virtues of car washing soaps as we do with sealants and waxes? To me, the washing process is *the* most important step to vehicle maintenance, as it pretty much decides how marred up your car is going to get over time, as well as how long your LSP is gonna last. Seems pretty important to me. That's pretty much why I've spent so much time learning soaps, processes, etc.

Yup, I've spent alot of time on it, and I plan on spending more time on it. Wish winter wasn't gonna be here so soon to ruin the fun. :)

I dont get why you would test all that on cars without any lsp. most people on this site want to know how soap holds up over products as well. you said that z7 is safe over lsp but if you didnt test the GC on it then how do you know tha it would be safe as well.
