Which Mobile Detailing VAN?

Scott, Thankyou

It was a pleasure to meet you.

I wish we would have had a chance for the hand -vs- PC race-LOL!!

...and a pleasure meeting you.

Bob (Aurora40) raced me. Not even close. I got the whole front of the car, and all the way down the side where he was still working on the rear quarter panel. When the only function is to simply apply a product, I think hand is faster. If polishing is part of the equation though, machine is faster.

Maybe next time though!

Sprinter is very nice, but pricy in comparison to what I really need and want. I have a Chevy Express 2500 with less than 54k miles for 7880. It's in good condition..exterior very good and was serviced. Also, one in San Diego is just over 8k with 74k miles. Luckily, the first one is 100 miles away and on Ebay, but the seller doesn't want to ship the van so bidding may be low.

I have a skid mounted system for $1350 lined up..everything but generator which I will add for $620 (Honda 2500).

Have a car show to work this weekend, and then will focus on the van and launch the my new site.

I'll be sure to let you guys know when it's up and running.

Thanks for the response!

That was my only concern. I have an extractor. I'll get the specs on it. Years ago I did the volts x amps and it was up there. I'll bet you are right. I'll get back to you.

Thanks, Rob

Just ran out to the garage...

120 volts by 22 amps = 2640 correct?

Isn't there a surcharge? Someone once told me that it was 3 x the running wattage. However, first I turn on the heater for about 20 min. and then run the pump and vac while the heater is off.

Thanks, Rob

Might be time to upgrade to a newer more energy efficent unit. Mine is about 6 years old...not used that much at all..TMI unit.

100 psi, 140 degree heater, etc. I know that newer units really put out lots more heat. This unit has no plastic on it..all steel body. Retailed for 1800 (4 gal. solution and recovery tanks), but my friend worked for the distributor. He told the boss he was my partner so the boss let him buy it $5 over invoice..around $880.

Tomorrow I'm getting my Chevy Express 2500. A dealer within a mile of my house did matched the deal from my cousin's dealership. NO money down and about 345 per month for a 2004 Chevy Express 2500 van with no windows on panels. I'm going to add ventilation for exhaust. I'm getting a white skid mount with 150 gal. tank, Honda (CAT Pump) PW 5.5 hp, Honda 2500 generator, hose reel with auto locking, and hose.

I have a Makita, Cyclo, and PC along with canopies and an attaching banner.

I'm getting the vacuuboom used from ? in LA. Don't want anyone to get it before I get down there...it's used and a good price!

Licensing Monday and off I go to my first 8 scheduled appointments. My neighbor is a DJ for a popular radio station and is going to do some "plugging" for me at the station.

I hope it adds up on a very busy summer (if not, my wife is going to kill me).

I'll get pics up when done.

Rob,

I hate to tell ya' but I am using the booms like crazy. It wouldn't be smart move to sell it just yet.

I did an airplane and had to use both of them. I have one in the trailer and one in the truck.

Good luck with your new setup . Post some pics once you get everything together. I think you made a choice with the van you picked. Its better to have a bigger truck and not need the extra room then need it and not have it .
