Where can I get Meguiars polymer sealant locally?? Number 20? I would like to get some Zaino but do not like using credit cards, is three anything that compares to Zaino but you can buy without mailordering? Thanks!!

Justin

There are a few polymer sealants on the market that are somewhat similar to Zaino. #20 is one of them.

Also consider Liquid Glass and Duragloss. I have found all of these at NAPA auto parts. LG is available from lots of retailers.

#20 and LG are a lot alike in that they have mild chemical cleaners that prevent layering. Duragloss is more like Zaino than the other two.

Check your local automotive paint supply stores. Look them up in the yellow pages and see if they carry the Meguiar's line. Or you can contact Meguiar's directly though their website and see if they can refer you to a local distributor. :xyxthumbs

www.meguiars.com and look for a dealer, the mirror glaze line. Then call up the list and see where they stock #20.

Or you can just mailorder stuff using a check or money order if credit cards stop you (only if you can't find #20.)

They have a certian level of solvent in them that clean as they go on. The second layer is basicly removing the first layer. It doesn't mean that you can't layer something else on top of the #20. It is just saying that if you try to put two coats of #20 on then in the end you will probably just end up with one.

Meguiar's #20 and LQ (and its twin Finish First) have light cleaners in them that will degrade the previous layer. The cleaning agent in #20 may be light but will remove some/part of the previous layer.

I think #20 is in a class of its own. It provides superior protection compared to just a wax but for gloss and shine and depth you want to use something else. I use #20 pretty much exclusively under the hood and in the door jambs. For appearance there are better products to use in my opinion.

What would be the best to use then?? Something better than #20 and that will last a long time!! I was thinking of going this way: #1 wash the car, #2 clay the car, #3 rewash car, then using swirl remover, then #7 show car glaze, then #20 polymer sealant, then #26 yellow wax u know!! But if u have easier and better methods and products to achieve the same results or better than please share!! Thanks you!!

The combo you have should work well. I know a few forum members who has used the method before.

I would do the following

1. Wash the car

2. Clay (you can wash, but I don't unless I have residue left behind which is almost never the case)

3. Swirl Remover (which one and by hand?)

4. Meguiar's #20 (You could #7 but it just coats the surface in oils/fillers and the #20's cleaners will remove some if not all the oils and fillers.)

5. Meguiar's #26.

That is a good system. The key is in making the paint as perfect as you can before protecting it with the #20/#26. Polishing really enhances the end result.

No problem, hmm I would hesitate to do #7 after #20. The only things I would do after #20 is put down #26 and wash/QD.

I was reading an article from Mike Phillips (Meguiar's expert) about the whole #7/#20 deal. You can do it if you want. The #20's cleaning abilities are primarily to help the polymer stick to the finish so it would remove a little of the #7.

Its your choice, if you have the time..sure #7 then #20, then #26...

Ok I have been to Napa, Wal Mart, Autozone, Advanced Auto, pretty much everywhere around here and I cannot fing Meguiar's #20 and #9 anywhere, somebody please give me suggestions Oh and I live in Birmingham, AL by the way if that helps!

Try ACE Hardware I seen alot of the meguiers professional Line the "Tan Bottles" I seen the polymer sealent and the #9 Swirl Mark Remover and Alot of other stuff. Check it out the autoparts stores usally dont cary meguiers professional line stuff unless its an autobody shop then they should. hope this helps if not just order it online it will save you more time and gas i spent a week looking for EO tire gel then i finally gave up and orderd it.

Did you try asking any of the auto parts stores if they could bring one in for you, or did you just walk in and out? Meguiar's MG line should be pretty easy to come by at auto parts stores. Try body shop supply stores too.

You might also want to check all around the store shelves. Sometimes they will place professional compounds and waxes in areas where they sell sandpaper, bondo and most paint/body supplies. I know O'Reilly's Auto parts has an area close/near to the consumer supplies that they sell alot of 3m stuff.

Just an idea next time you visit a parts store. :wavey
