Whats your favorite glass cleaner?

1-2 ounces of APC in a gallon of water ... great for spraying or even using in your windshield washer reservoir ..no streaks can use with any towel and is very cost effective :D

Here i the stuff I use...I like it...

I guess this thread has aged well... :D

I use Sprayway too, and Stoner's IG, and Perfect Glass, PB's S&W (diluted), EO 20/20 (before I ran out)and...:)

For me, there is not much discernable difference between Sprayway and IG. They're both too messy to use on interior glass so I mainly use them on exterior glass and home glass and mirrors.

A quick spritz/wipe down with distilled water seems to help sometimes as well.

CharlesW's mention of homemade glass cleaner works even better if you include some vinegar and IP alcohol. When I do all of the exterior house windows I mix up a bucketful.

How much vinegar and how much IPA would you add to a 32 oz. bottle of the Dawn/water mixture I mentioned?

Charles, 1 part each water/vingegar/IPA would be a good starting point for experimentation.

When I'm working in a bucket, the dilutions are probably somewhat less. Still on the soap, probably less than a teaspoon.

Wow!
I would never have considered using that much vinegar and alcohol.
That's another reason I leave the mixes to those that have a better feel for it.
That's also one of the reasons for such different experiences by different people.
Where you mixed approximately 10 oz. of each, water, vinegar, alcohol, I would have thought more like only an ounce or two each of the vinegar and alcohol.
Then I would have groused about how poorly it worked. :D

Also, the only alcohol we have in the house is rubbing alcohol. It says 70% isopropyl alcohol. Is this the same thing you use?
The vinegar I figure would be the same white vinegar I use for my MF towel rinse.

Charles, You have all the right components, assuming you are using the 5% variety of vinegar (also assuming it isn't apple cider vinegar -- though I can't say for certain that would be detrimental -- just a waste IMO) :)

Just tried a mix of 8 - 8 - 8, water, vinegar, alcohol with 2 drops of Dawn added.
I did some mirrors in the house, (Still 29 degrees outside), and it seemed to work good.
The only negative is a very strong vinegar smell.
Gosh, what a surprise that a 1/3 vinegar solution amells like vinegar. :D
Supposed to be 50 degrees tomorrow so I can try it on at least one of the vehicles. Hopefully, two of them. It depends on when I run out of gas. :)
They are dirty enough that they won't be 15 minute washes this time. :notme:

Yeah :) Wait until you use on interior automotive glass. It is effective (both performance and cost), but some might say pungent. I normally use that only for the outside window panes of the house. The results are good and the scent isn't quite as overpowering.

Chances are, I won't be using it on any interior glass, house or car. In fact, chances are the 24 ounces I have mixed up will be used on the exterior windows of the house and I won't be mixing up any more. :D If I do, it will be with a lot less vinegar. :)
Pungent is probably a good description. :bigups

my left over windex-auto is now replaced with stoners IG aerosol A++ i was impressed with stoners despite all the hype about IG on this forum ! thanks for helping me find a keeper all !

CG window clean is my go to for all my glass cleaning needs. IMO it is better than IG in the aspects that it performs much better and is $11.99 a gallon.

1 ounce of my APC( = .41) to a gallon of water or 32 gallons for $12.95 sounds like a great deal to me

Interestingly enough, I just read Coastal Eddie's post in another thread regarding this use of APC. His dilution was 1/2 capful to 32 oz. water. I'll now equate that 1/2 capful to = 1/4 oz.

I'd say that's accurate :inspector: I may just have to bottle it that way and make some $$$$

Don't go getting carried away with yourself now, just keep on the current proven path. I'll break my own bottles down, thank you very much. :rofl

I'm presently working on my own formula, so far the only product I like
is stoner invisible glass. So I'm off to the lab.
