What tool do YOU use to wash? (mitt, mf, brush?)

I have been using the sponge I got from Adam's. Two buckets, and rinse the sponge often with the hose.

Gets into cracks pretty well. Car wash soap from Adam's also, cleans very well.

It will wear and gets cuts in it from some of the edges on my old chrome, disposable kind of thing I suppose, can be replaced pretty easily. I think you get 2 of them for 19.95, something like that.

I purchased a white/yellow Schmitt when they first came out. After using it about a dozen times, I've decided that I don't like it. While the foam is soft, it just doesn't work as well, IMO vs. sheepskin or chenille wash mitts.

The first few times I used the Schmitt I'd find spots that I missed after I was done washing. This never happened until I used the Scmitt. It just doesn't conform to body panels, contours, etc. like a sheepskin or chenille mitt. Plus, to me it's harder to rinse out because the foam is harder to squeeze.

Right now I'm using Wal-Mart EuroW sheepskin mitts.

you guys who use the grout sponge, do you use it with ONR? I almost bought one today but I wasn't sure if this would work well with something like ONR.

I do have a wheel cleaning tool for the wheels. I haven't marred my car yet and wash the wheels last after i've done the paint and have not YET messed up my car's paint. I SHOULDN'T do this for that reason of scratching the car's paint. But I have to say though, I haven't scratched the paint yet. If I DO mar the paint or something like that, i'll just take off those marring marks or scratch marks. It's my daily driven car and I can't keep it PERFECTLY clean all the time anyways. If I DO scratch a bit or mar the car's paint, it's never that bad to me unlike catching curb damage or gauges or something from a HARSH moment like that. Probably something that you don't wanna hear but car paint is car paint and since I have no carport or garage to hide or store my car in, i'm not TOO worried about a bit of marring or thin hairline fine light scratches,...thats what polishes, fillers, and waxes are for.

I use:

Megs Gold Class Shampoo

Sonus Ultimate Wool Wash Mit

Megs Wheel Brush (Sometimes)

Eagle One All Wheel and Tire Cleaner

Dry with Sonus Ultimate Drying Towel

If not waxing... follow up with Poorboys Spray and Gloss with Sonus Buffing Towel (I think that's what it is, it's that yellow, super plush one)

paint: a thick fluffy marine works sheepskin wash mitt (picks up dirt from the car and releases grit into the pail like nobody's business). i don't put it on, i hold it like a wet sponge and flip it over to make another cleaning pass.

Marine Works Premium Heavy Duty Wash Mitt - A1032012 - BoatersWorld.com

i also have the chenille dreadlock sponge from big lots (looks similar to vroom dreadlock sponges) but find it doesn't work as well and end up with dirty drying towels especially when using ONR. am curious about the grout sponge from home depot.

doorjambs and engine: terry towels

wheels and tires: OXO Feather-Tip Wash Brush (supposedly can be used for grills, bumpers and for lower body panels as well but haven't tried)

OXO Feather-Tip Wash Brush: new design is easy on your hands, easy on your car, but tough on dirt! car wash brush, oxo car wash brush, auto wash

spokes: Lambs Wool Spoke Brush

inner rim: Microfiber Wheel Detailer (also good for applying sealants)

still looking for the perfect toilet bowl brush for my small wheel wells but what can i say, i like to clean my wheels! :D

It works awesome with ONR. I use that combo about 95% of the time. Pick from the loose ones and not the packaged ones for ONR. The loose ones are softer.

I have a natural sponge, Boars hair brush, and sheepskin mitt. I use the sheepskin mitt most of the time. It seems to be the fastest, and safest. IMO

ok cool. The only ones i seen at home depot were the packaged ones. They seemed soft. Where did you find the unpackaged ones?

They're usually in a big "hopper" type bin. In my experience the packaged ones don't get along with soft paint for the ONR type washes but do work great for a traditional wash.

one more question. When you say "loose" do you mean the single PACKAGED ones? I seen the singles and the the packaged bundle. The bundled ones did seem a little stiffer than the the single packaged ones.

So to recap, you are referring to the single, wrapped/packaged ones correct?

They are unpackaged.
