what to use on non clear'd ferrari paint?

hi guys



just added one of these to the collection and the paint needs some tlc. It has alot of swirls and light scratches in every panel, but im not sure what to use since the paint is non clear coated and looks pretty thin in some areas you can see the kevlar weave underneath



the car only has 1500kms on the clock, and had never been washed, only ever chamois'd down



i definitely dont want to use an RO, id rather do it all by hand



atm im thinking just PO85RD on a light cutting pad using the wolfgang polishing pal. I know it will take me ages, but i do have all the time in the world



also wouldnt have a clue what to use on the clear perspex



car in question.....

After polishing, I recomend zymol rouge, it has red coloring agents in it for red single stage paint, and for polishing, everyone says the megs polishes are the best on single stage due to the high oil content.



Only reason is because its the only wax I know of that is for red single stage specifically, I'm not a zymol fanboy or anything.

Agreed! My only favorite ferrari of all time! :woot: I guess I would say use products that have fillers so that it would look better than it do now.

yeh dude i had a Z for almost 2 years. Did quite a bit of modding, but sold it for the M3. Check my sig for pics of the Z

i have the whole clearkote lineup in the cupboard, so i guess i can give it a go



what about xmt 360?



i use 85RD by hand on smaller areas like door handles etc and it seems to work ok, slow process, really got rub hard, but i wouldnt be happy doing a whole car like that



i read the Einzsett products are good by hand?
 
how about i pack up all my supplies, fly to your city, correct your paint and you let me drive that beast?

I would think paint correction by machine would be much more efficient and still very safe if done properly.

Agreed. Vanilla Moose works great on single stage paints.



If you need some extra "oomph", Meguiars #83 and #80 are killer on single stage finishes.

If its 1500k's and factory paint although it appears thin one would think there would be plenty for a gently polish with an RO, rather you did it though then me. LOL



Nah, seriously if I can take 2000 wet n dry to a 348TS an RO should be a sure thing.....LOL............I did say "SHOULD be a sure thing"

Boy, I'm not so sure. One thing I definitely remember reading about the F40 and F50 was that they intentionally put a very thin layer of paint on those cars to save weight and that you could see the weave of the carbon fiber through the paint. Which echoes 3fiddyz's comment about seeing the weave as well.



I'd start off with the finest, least aggressive products I could and see where it gets me.
