Hello gents,

Was wondering if anyone knows of the best buffer that is A-light weight for those long days buffing boats B- variable speed C-electric ? Right now i am using a blue point variable speed buffer 1000-3000. its a lot lighter than ur standard DeWalt, but still on the heavy side for extreme periods of use. Though it is the smoothest and longest running buffer i have ever had.

A few of the necessities to have a rotary buffer with enough "power" and hold up to 6 or more hours a day of use, 5 to 6 days a week are--

Amatuer, good windings, etc (weight)

Strong gears in the head of the buffer and high quality bearings (weight)

Strong "head" which does not "flex" when hot due to heavy use, due to the design of the head casting. (weight)-Flex in that area stresses the bearings and armatuer.

Well designed and quaility constructed trigger mechanizim, with quality electrical cord.(some weight).

There are rotary's available that are will have some of the good things, and some won't have many, hard to have all of the above.

In my 40 plus years of using, buying, distributing, etc such buffers, have found that there are those few, starting at the low end of endurance, Makita, Hitachi, and then it gets to those that may easily serviced in most metro areas in case it is needed.

DeWalt and Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee is a tank, and much heavier than the DeWalt.

I have both, plus a couple of very nice light weight variables I use for some things.

I even have a couple of 20 year old Craftsman, two speeds, don't use them much, if at all in a year.

The "go to" when doing quick, light buffing--have two.

Both are Harbor Frieght and neither have given up, but not used for hours on end and day after day.

Sure there are others that will chime in with their preference for a rotary buffer.

Personal choice, Dewalt.

Me too Ron, got the old DeWalt and it's not the boat anchor some might think. I think it will out live me!

The new Dewalt is fantastic. Runs from 600-3500 rpms, lighter, more ergonomic, and a great trigger. Highly recommend.

Dynabrade is my buffer of choice , though there not cheap . Ive had mine for almost 10 years and one thing wrong with it yet!!! And one of the lightest buffers ive ever come across. As a side note the heaviest buffer i ever used was a milwaukee one old school the thing would just kill you after about five hours or so lol glad im past those days.
