What glass only towel do you like and use?

Hi all,

What glass only towel do you like and use? I'm in the market to pick up some glass only towels for detailing and wanted your feedback.

1. Suede towel

2. Small Waffle Weave towel

3. Other type of towel

Also, what size do you think will be best?

With Aloha,

Ranney :)

Ranney, would is possible to combine ww and suede in 1? ww on one side suede on the other? Talk about a unique towel :up

I'm always looking for the ultimate glass towel, the Viper was nice, I use the Detailers Paradise Norwex now but it's still not perfect.

I agree. A suede/ww would be ideal. I usually just use ww's on my glass, but then again I don't own any suedes, so I'm kind of biased. I can certainly see myself using a dual sided towel though, ww for the initial/cleaning pass and then suede for the final wipe/buff pass.

In a combo pack of MF's I bought locally a few years ago (for home use, not on my cars) there was a small (6" x 6") suede MF included for cleaning glasses, etc.. I have used one for cleaning CD's and one for glasses; they seem to work very well for those small applications.

I currently just use a regular MF for glass, but ideally (as JDookie suggests) it would be nice to use a suede MF as the final pass.

Thanks for supplying us with quality MF's Ranney :up

I like the Viper glass towels but I have been using the Pinnacle Cobra Waffle Weave lately with superb results. Bill's Norwex is terrific also.

I'm waiting on PakShak to invent an ultrafine WW for glass. ;)

Where can the Viper Glass Towel be purchased? I check a few of the vendors suggested here and I couldn't find it??

I got my Viper Glass towel from Autogeek last year. Its very nice. I also use the cheap Nicsand MF's with the heavy nap. They work well.

Can't wait to see a new Pakshak MF Glass Towel....:D

I have not had much luck using suede MF's for glass cleaning, I usually end up using a Pakshak ;) green MF for initial wipe and a ww for the final swipe, works the best for me so far.

I use some Viking (or maybe Buffalo?) terry cloth towels for glass cleaning. I just get too much drag with MFs. I buy the towels at Pep Boys and they have a somewhat rougher texture than most terry cloth towels. I'll try and stop by tomorrow and see if I can get the exact brand name and product number. I've been using them for 7-8 years now.

I agree with scott, I get way too much drag witha regular MF. I use the Viking also. And even then I have a hard time getting the glass spot free and clear.:(

Scott brings up a good point. MF does tend to pull, however I have found this to not be a problem with WW glass towels.

So far my favorite is the SONUS Der Wunder Polishing Towel or the Viking Edgeless MF, both seem identical and are orange. I've gotten the Viking towel from Autozone but I don't remember the price. I like it for removing polish and wax too....very versatile towel that hasn't disappointed me yet. :xyxthumbs

I'll have to try the Der Wunder polishing towel. I just got the Pinnacle Cobra WW Glass towel and washed it today so it will tested tomorrow. I'll have to compare the two of them. I could see the texture of the Sonus working well on glass.

I use 16 x 24 Waffle Weave MF. I find WW MF has very little drag but still has lots of bite and does not lint. Use these with Stoners Invisible Glass:up

Hi Ranney, great question!

Firstly, I'd like to say how good your MF is. :xyxthumbs

I use several brands (happy with most), but always fall back to your blue MF and white UMF...pure quality!

Secondly, to your question. I've tried several MF types on glass...yours and others brands too...I've tried WW, short nap, long nap, no nap, and suede.

For drying, WW and longer nap MF works well. For cleaning, only one does the deal...the tight-weave no-nap MF.

I actually get it at our local supermarket (a bit expensive, but I can't find any other source...as yet, Ranney ;) ).

No chemicals required...just lightly moisten and wipe or scrub if needed. It removes water, oil, makeup, fingerprints, haze, everything!...all with just water and wiping. It leaves no lint (no nap) and leaves no residue.

I haven't seen it on any of the detailing sites, but if its available in Australia in supermarkets, its available in the US.

As I said it has no nap, and hence feels very thin compared to normal MF; it looks shiney from the tight weave. Used only for glass or mirrors.

Here's a link to their webpage.

This type is also available as a mit, which makes it quicker, easier, and overcomes the drag issue.

I really hope you can source (and sell) this type of MF because, for cleaning glass, it leaves all other MF wanting.

You'll revolutionise glass cleaning, like WW did for drying. :bigups

That blue, no nap, very tight weave MF looks like the one I purchased from Walmart (I think it might be branded as Black Magic ).

I was very skeptical that this MF would work, it looked so smooth, I wondered if it would clean effectively, but it works really well. I went back to Walmart and purchased five more to supplement the some very short nap MF's I also use to clean exterior glass. Worth a try IMHO.

Amen, Mike. Amen!

Now...let's convince Ranney! :idea
