So, last weekend I tried my new BF Wet Diamond and today I got to try one of my new "product toys" that I obtained from Biolink in a trade.
Biolink sent me some Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 in a 2oz sample. I have heard many good things about this product so I was anxious to try it. I used it on my 2008 White IS350. I didn't get a chance to take pics tonight, but I'll get some tomorrow and add them to this thread.
I'm going to write this review two ways. First, I'll talk about the product itself, followed by a comparison to others I've tried.
The first noticeable thing about the product is that it REALLY separates from itself while in the container. Biolink was SMART enough to know he was sending this stuff to a dolt so wrote "SHAKE WELL" in big letters on the container.
It has a "chemical" smell, which I kind of prefer (as I'm not a fan of the delicious smelling products because I think they could be trouble around small kids). It's yellowish in color and has a typical liquid consistency, similar to both BF Wet Diamond and NXT 2.0.
My process included the following:
Foam Car with DP Xtreme Foam Shampoo + GC wash (two bucket method), third bucket also for wheels.
Clay - Riccardo Clay (yellow) - ONR diluted to QD strength.
M80 as a paint cleaner over entire car with 8006 pad.
ISA wipedown
Apply WGDG 3.0 by hand with brand new foam applicator. Let dry for about 30 minutes (give or take). Remove with Eurow Shag MF towels.
The car is defect free and I've used a lot of products on this bad boy, so I have a lot to compare it to. Here is the break down...
Application
Putting this stuff on was a breeze. Pretty easy to get on thin and it had a very slight yellowish tint when it hazed which made it easy to identify against my white paint. It may not even be yellowish, maybe "off white" is a better term.
I covered the entire car in a matter of minutes. As far as putting it on, I would rate it right up there with my favorites for easy of application (Wet Diamond, NXT 2.0, 845).
Removal
Removal was pretty easy, but NOT quite as easy as both Wet Diamond and NXT 2.0. It also takes longer to dry then Wet Diamond. One of the things I really liked about Wet Diamond, which I did not write in my review, is that it seems to dry VERY quickly.
Feel
Amazing. Again, I'm not sure it's slicker than Wet Diamond, but it's close. I actually find 3.0 very similar to NXT 2.0. If Wet Diamond is a 10 on the slickness scale, this product is a 9.90 and NXT 2.0 might be a 9.75.
Price
I didn't buy it, but I did a quick online search and think it retails for about $39.99 (might be cheaper if you look harder buy I only checked one online vendor). In any event, it is about $10 more than Wet Diamond and about $25 more than NXT 2.0.
The Look
This is obviously the most subjective criteria, so take what I write here with a grain of salt...
To me, this was one of the best looking LSP's that has ever touched my IS. Without doubt it BLOWS away 476s and I think it beats NXT 2.0 (which has now gotten beaten twice this week - it was my previous "go to" LSP).
However, I then compared the flakes on the Lex to the flakes on the CR-V (done last week with Wet Diamond) and I think if I had a gun to my head, I'd give an ever so slight edge to Wet Diamond with just a bit more "pop".
Don't get me wrong, both are amazing and probably no noticeable difference to 99.9% of the world (and maybe not even to me), but I just can't get over how good the CR-V looks. (Keep in mind, my impressions were formed even though the LSP hasn't fully cured).
Verdict
Another great LSP!!! I would recommend it to anyone, although not as the best sealant out there.
I would probably put it third on my list behind Wet Diamond (1st) and NXT 2.0 (2nd) for the following reasons:
1. It's a tad tougher to remove than both Wet Diamond and NXT.
2. It's a bit more expensive than WD and a lot more than NXT 2.0 and I'm not sure the advantages it give over NXT are worth the price.
3. It's possible that it looks as good as Wet Diamond but not better. They are fairly similar in a lot of ways.
Overall, you can't go wrong with this product. I can go over the litany of LSP's I've tried and it definitely has a spot in my top 3. I've got two more LSPs to test and I'm running out of cars (S100 and FMJ). I think I'll save the FMJ for a Black Audi A8 I've been meaning to detail. S100 for a silver lexus. We'll see.
Stay tuned for the pics tomorrow.
