Washing method in direct sunlight

We all know that summer is upon us which means for some of us or most of us hot blazing direct sun.

What have been the most effective way you've found in washing cars in direct sun in efforts to minimize dried up water spots on the car? I have yet to perfect this, just one of those little things that irritates me about washing in hot weather. I need some outside ideas.

i rather wait till the sun goes down than wash in it.

In the summer usually i wash in the afternoon or very early morning.

I do it all the time. I have rather soft water and I use a reccomended car wash (amongst Autopians). Work relatively quick as well or just do it in sections.

Just after the sun rises and by doing a section at a time and then drying it (for us old guys working quickly is a short term proposition, about ten-fifteen minutes LOL)

As fast you possibly can, and keep re-rinsing the entire car as you wash.

What about getting one of those Mr. Clean thingamajigs? In my neighborhood, the water is so hard, I always have problems with water spots. So, I empathize.

My personal solution has been to not worry too much about water spots, and then I use detailing spray immediately after I wash.

Usually even working quick and constant rinsing the hot sun dries the water very quickly. My recommendation is washing quickly (yet safely, meaning dont do it so quick you induce swirls) and then after you are done washing, go over the car with a good quick detail spray. No matter what, after every wash, I always Qd! Helps extend protection on the car and leaves the just waxed look!

I second STBear's suggestion of QEW. I've used in the in blazing sun twice now. I actually hose off the car with a pressure washer, and then I go over the entire car, pretty quickly, with QEW (one section at a time, of course)

Yeah the speed racer method has been my approah as well one panel at a time. Usually I'm unable to wait until the sun goes down a bit due to client scheduals and mosquitos hehe.

Thanks for the tips guys.

I just got one of those CR Spotless systems and tried it for the first time this morning. I washed in sections...first roof, then one side, etc. It's an Excursion, so there's no way to get around it without spots sometimes...even if you are quick.

I'll save the details for another post...but you folks can't imagine how weird it was to watch the water "steam" off on the sun side without leaving spots....very cool....and strange.

I always try to wash the side of the car that is not in direct sunlight first. Then I wash the top, as it helps to keep the freshly washed side saturated. One last soaking of the entire car, then wash the side in direct sunlight. Then dry the side facing the sunlight first.
