the makita rotary /da

Yes.

No time to post my results right now, but suffice to say, in the dual action mode it has a lot power than the Porter Cable. This can be both a good thing, and a bad thing.

The Rotary function takes some getting use to. It seems to want to "walk" around the surface while buffing with it.

More later...

Mike, I would love to hear your thoughts on this. If you post your findings on MOL can you give us a link here? I would appreciate it!

The reference was a gamble.

It's from the best "Worst Movie of All Time"--Dude, Where's My Car.

"and then...?"

"NO and then..."

"aaaannnnndddd then...?"

"NO AND THEN!..."

It was simply too much for me to pass up:D

I got one. I like it better than the PC. Bit of a learning curve, though if you plan to try using this in forced rotation mode, as it will be skiddish at times. Not a Cyclo, but I think it is far superior to a PC, but less than a rotary (which I just happend to get last Friday):D

That was classic... :D :D :D

The B06040 is a lot more powerful in the Dual Action Polishing mode than a Porter Cable Dual Action polisher. The highest rotary rpm is around 1000 and I notice it tends to want to walk around[/b] as you're buffing with it with some products and pads.

This Thursday we're doing an extreme makeover to black Corvette whose finish is in horrible condition, will fire up the BO6040 and let a few people try it out and see what they think.

MIKE!!!!!!!!!

Wanna hear comments on the 6040! How was the EM with the Corvette?

I'm curious also, because I'd like to buy a similar dual-dual action from Bosch. It is marketed here in Europe as the GEX 150 Turbo, and in the States as the 1250 DEVS.

I hope I made the right decision. The Makita cost US$ 600 (!!!) here, but I can obtain the Bosch at near manufacturing cost.

If you wanna take a quick look:

What do you think? Are they similar? Are they using similar action/movement in both modes?

Hi Bence,

We couldn't use the B06040 yesterday because unknown to me, someone at work had borrowed it and I couldn't locate it.

Both cars we worked had questionable paint, the Bora's paint appeared to be a very old basecoat/clearcoat finish that wasn't what I would call high quality. To be on the safe side, we used ColorX by hand.

The Corvette had what looked like Solvent Pop in some areas so to be on the safe side, we avoided the rotary buffer and only used #80 Speed Glaze with a W-8006 polishing pad on the PC followed by two applications of Tech Wax.
