Some help needed

That looks great. I prefer finishing on a DA polisher with a white pad (vs. gray).
Either ways it looks like you got it figured out in the end.

How come the white pad vs the gray?

I know this much from the description.

White Low Profile Polishing 5.5 inch Foam Pad - Less dense foam formula for the application of waxes, micro-fine polishes and sealants. This pad has very light cutting power so its perfect for pre-wax cleaners.

Gray Low Profile Finishing 5.5 inch Foam Pad - Composition is firm enough to withstand added pressure during final finishing to remove buffer swirls. It has no cut and will apply thin, even coats of waxes, sealants, and glazes.

Because of the cut mainly?

Yes the white pad will increase cut but there other factors going on as well. A gray pad will absorb a lot of the orbital movement that a DA polisher makes, so you are left with a really slow speed rotary that has a hard time breaking down the diminishing abrasives.

The result is little cut (to remove holograms) and while not getting the best shine (abrasives are still fully sized). Using a white pad (on a DA polisher) handles both of these problems. :bigups

yes! now it makes sense. Because you are right, with the gray pad, the weight of the DA alone squishes (absorbing) the pads half way already. So it's best from your experience, to use the gray with a non-abrasive polish/sealant, etc etc? I will make sure I do a white pad.

I like the gray for finishing on a rotary because you need something that provides almost no mechanical action on its own while being able to contour to the body curves.

I wish I had more experience with Rotary. Seems like most of the pros are using that to do the main cuts and finishing off with the DAs. I find my DA yellow/orange cuts is not as clean as of someone with a rotary. (comparing their pics vs my own)

Did I see you used yellow LC pads. There might be some that disagree with me but I think that pad should never be used. The last time I used that pad was to scuff a surface to paint. There are so many options out there with as much cut and leaves an almost flawless surface. The yellow pad is what caused the hallo's. Buy some MF pads and you will be blown away at how much correction you get and how nice the surface is.

Second thing I would recomend is to learn to love the white pads. They are so versatile. can be used with 105 and can even finish down with Po85rd. If you ever get into a situation with hallow again, just put on a white pad and hit with 105 again and then finish with your po85rd.

Yellow LC pads are for scrubbing dishes, not polishing cars!

Awesome!
I also have the PO85RD on the way btw! =D

Question, If I was to use the white on the PO85RD and finish it with the Grey, would it make it a bit more gloss or probably can't tell the difference?

Car looks great. Random reply, but how did Dean Mccrary treat you? I had some bad experiences in the past with them when I lived in AL and am wondering if they have cleaned up their act.

Not so good. (I did previously wrote how bad it went, but i decided it was too long) pretty much they got their deal, but got screwed on financing. anyway, I would not go back. They play shady games. Here is the crazy part...are you ready? My friend bought the car already right? They up until a few days ago, kept calling me everyday, 2 different people, asking if i was still interested in the 08 550i! :rofl:rofl:rofl I cannot believe this...my girlfriend was blown away when I told her. :rofl
