Picked it up aa few days ago!

Very cool! I've been considering picking one of those up as well. How do you like it as compared to your other rotaries?
 
Are rotary polishers cheaper than D/As? Seems to me that the motion is a lot less complex so there should be fewer parts!



I think my Flex 3401VRG was like $250 or something?

I paid $190 for my Dewalt at English Paint and Color (local Meguiars/3M/Automagic distributor) but normally they are $20-30 more.



Rotaries tend to have more powerful motors and are built to last years when used professionally.
 
I love my Dewalt! I choose it over the others for the RPMs right on the dial. I also don't mind the fact my forearms get a little bit of workout,especially when I'm doing a full correction :)
 
Hmmm... what's a good (inexpensive) one for occasional use? I think I want to get started with a rotary now that I've had some experience with my D/As (7424 and 3401VRG). I have a beat up old Honda Odyssey minivan to practice on. (Will enjoy burning the paint!)

If you're just looking to learn on the cheap, I would pick up a rotary from Harbor Freight. Their units can be had for about $40

I think the added weight makes it easier to control.
 
Yeah, I've noticed that. I use mine without the handle. I grip by the head,and I've always had really good maneuverability, even when using 4" pads. I don't do it every day, all day like you pros do, but for anyone comfortable enough to step up to using the rotary, I'd really recommend it.
 
Barry Theal- Nice to have options, huh? I do find it interesting that you bought a new rotary what with all the RO-centric work you've been doing :think:.
