Sealing chroms wheels?

I have read that chrome wheels are sold unsealed. A couple years I bought a set and they were pitting up on me, so I sent them back and they was still under warranty. I have a new set on their way now. I was wondering what I can use to seal a new set of chrome wheels.

I also talked to a detailer and he mentioned that he uses a boat wax to wax you car... Says your car will bead water for over a year. Is Boat wax the stuff to use or what?
 
brake dust is corrosive. if left to do it's own thing it will eat into chrome, aluminum or clear coat. best prevention is a good wax or sealant and frequent cleaning. os or fk1000 all with opti coat would be a couple of good choices for you wheels.



not sure about the real differences between the marine wax and auto wax is, but many have used marine waxes on their cars. Collinite is one that is mainly sold at marine stores and quite frequently use on cars. of the collinite 845 and 476 are the most popular around here.
 
Use a sealant, not a carnauba wax. (Carnauba is not heat resistant and not durable) I reserve some of the cheapest sealants for wheel work. NuFinish (the big orange bottle from K-Mart, for instance, is perfectly good and cheap. They market Wheel Wax, specifically, but IMO save your money.

Optimum Metal Polish is by far my favorite metal polish. It cleans up chrome easily and effectively also lays down a little protection.
