Review: Optimum Gloss Coat Paint Coating

Re: Review: Optimum Gloss-Coat Paint Coating

Looks great but it will take two years to test durability. You can out Blackfire on the car and have an equally brilliant shine but only about six months of protection. Will we get two years durability out of Opti Gloss Coat is the real concern for me!

That's true. I'm trying to decide whether I should do a long term review without adding any additional protection after maintenance washes, or if I should wash and wax as I normally would. Hmmmmmm....

You could always leave one area unmolested and do a long term test.

I agree. Very impressive.

So if down the line after applying this I want to wax it what would be the best course of action?

They say it can be topped. So make sure it's clean and go for it...I assume:)

Ray,

Thank you for testing Gloss-Coat on your new car and taking the time to share your results. The Sable looks amazing.

Re: Review: Optimum Gloss-Coat Paint Coating

Thanks Dr. The pleasure was all mine.

15 day update. ~300 miles and just about daily rain with extreme UV ratings. I haven't washed it yet and I think the results speak for themselves.

p.s. I double parked to detail the interior. Rayview coming soon...

Yep, no wash. 2 weeks ~300 miles. 1 highway trip, but mostly city driving and tons of rain. Behind the wheel wells there's a little dirt, but besides that it still looks great.

Re: Review: Optimum Gloss-Coat Paint Coating

So the deal is, i here from someone in the know. Opticoat 2.0 was ditched, reason being, cowboy detailers passing it off as Opticoat Pro and Optimum want to put a stop to it. Gloss coat gives a lot better look, but is sacrifices a hell of a lot of durability to do it. That is the inside scoop.

Re: Review: Optimum Gloss-Coat Paint Coating

Aw I missed my Gloss-Coats birthday :( It's been on the paint now for 374 days and it's still going strong :)

I'll post an update with pictures soon.

Re: Review: Optimum Gloss-Coat Paint Coating

I posted a review over on Autogeek, thought I'd just repost it here too...

Coated a car in Gloss Coat last week and as a beading wh0re (Sonax PNS, CarPro Reload, Gtechniq EXOv2 etc...) I can say it beads and sheets just as well if not better than these products. First wash I was very pleased with the results. Better water reaction than CQUK by itself for sure.

Prep was the usual... (car is a 2014 BMW M5)

- CarPro Reset wash
- Optimum Ferrex
- Optimum Clay Towel w/ ONR lube
- HD Adapt w/ Megs MF cutting pad (only select areas)
- Optimum Hyper Polish w/ Orange Lake Country everywhere
- CarPro Eraser
- Gloss Coat
