Review My Purchase (Before I buy)

If you want, you can get all of your products at chemicalguys including MF products. I would highly recommend Ultimate Paint Protection sealant and Detailers pride Premium surface shield as far as sealants go

If you're going to get the Pinnacle Bug Sponge, there is really no need for the Bug Squash. Just use a concentrated car wash solution. I'd stray from the Klasse products unless you can be SURE that they are the old versions. There are some unknowns about the "new" stuff. While I like QD+(Im in minority here) you should know that it is a spray wax and not just spray on and wipe off. It hazes and needs to be wiped off just like a wax. You could replace the lack of Klasse SG with Menzerna FMJ. I have had a half dozen Duo-Fiber towels and NONE of them have stayed together. I'd wait until whatever problem with them is ironed out. The rest of the list looks good. Get a gallon of some kind of QD and a spray bottle for it. You will go through lots of QD and vinyl/rubber dressing.

I haven't read anything about the Klasse 'new' products having problems, could you point me to some posts about this?

Are you saying you like the PB QD or the Klasse QD?

So the FMJ replaces the Klasse SG?

Thanks, I`ll stray away from those Duo-Fiber towels.

What type of QD do you like? You mentioned one above that you were a minority in liking it which was this? Also how does the PB QD rate?

Thanks!

Thanks I`ll look into it, other people have suggest the UPP as well.

As for QD I started a best all around QD thread a little while ago http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61599

I ended up getting, PB S&G for after waxing and between washes, #34 for my all around qd, mainly for applying and removing products and between layers, and lastly PBs S&W for light dust washing.

I have heard a lot of people not liking the PB QD+ , thats why I went with the QD I got.

And for the UPP, I really like the results that people seem to get with it, but I also like Klasse SG and I would think that the SG would bond to AIO better than anything else. If you only get one then get the SG IMO.

Also what kind of wax do you have right now?

Are you getting this all from autogeek? If so I would get a few more things while they still have the free shipping.

Some extras, not needed that I would get are:

More wax both carnauba and synthetic like Natty's Blue, #26, or S100 for carnaubas and Mothers Synwax, Reflections, Power Wax, Top Coat, or Megs NXT. Just some suggestions, you can do a search and see what you think would be best.

PB wheel sealant (supposedly works, I got some and will try)

Glaze, like Mothers Sealer or Glaze, Megs #7

Clay bar (unless you already have a new one)

Car wash although I'm sure you already have some

Basically what I do is search the entire site and read up on all products that seem interesting and buy everything that I think I want. Thats the reason I spend too much money on this stuff. lol

Hope this helps, helps you spend more money. lol

From the reading I have done, there is a difference in the "new" SG versus the "old" SG. Search and you shall find.:)

I have many QD's and like most of them for different reasons and uses. #34 is probably the most used of them all. The new Klasse products don't have problems per se *but* there definitely seems to be a difference between old and new. Search and you shall find.:) Klasse doesn't have a QD to my knowledge. I was saying that I am in the minority of being one that likes QD+.

Hope I didn't forget anything... as you`ll notice there are duplicate product types. This is so I can test them and decide which I like best.

Opinions on the order?

Suggestions?

Let me here it!

You can get a lot of those things on your superiorautocare list at Autogeek for the same or cheaper price, it might save you shipping costs. I dont know if superiorcarcare has extra shipping charges for more items. Other than that your list looks pretty complete.

I dunno if I'd get so many products before you've done this for a while. Just too many variables for my taste. But I recognize that saying *that* isn't any fun ;)

I'd get more MFs, the regular plush kind. When you polish you can go through quite a few of them.

I'd get Sonus clay (both gray and green) instead of the PolyClay. I feel *very* strongly about this one, no way would I want to be without the two Sonus clays and I've heard too many people complain about how they marred their paint with the Pinnacle PolyClay (no idea why, I've never used it). I'd get some dedicated clay lube instead of just using shampoo mix and/or #34. I do it both ways and prefer the lube.

I wouldn't get Meg's #21 *and* the Klasse twins *and* UPP *and* Meg's #7 *and* the Liquid Souveran *and* the wheel sealant. I'd just get the AIO and UPP for now and get acquainted with them (FWIW, I do use both KSG and UPP). While I do keep some #7 (and other Meg's "pure polishes") around, I don't really see any reason for you to buy that one unless you have some uncured fresh paint or some older single-stage you're gonna be working on.

Again, I don't mean to be a drag, I just think you're more likely to have a satisfactory experience if you scale it back a little. Most people find the learning curve to be a bit daunting as it is. Heh heh, I have *dozens* of products and I could get by just fine without most of 'em ;)

Oh, and I hope you put some good thought into your choices for abrasive polishes. This is where most people seem to have the most difficulty- mechanically removing marring.

Not to be rude but just because I want to review a bunch of these products doesn't mean I haven't been detailing for a while. I`ve been detailing for about 10 years as my father did it on the side when I was growing up. A lot has changed in those 10 years and I have a few of the new products, and want to add more to my library. Over the years i`ve learned that you can't truly understand what will work for you by reading a review on the Internet, and that it takes some hands-on time to get to know and get a feel for the product(s).

I`ve had great success with #7 on my current car, and wouldn't do without it in my garage. I respect your opinions, and take them for what they are 'opinions' so please don't feel like a drag.

Thank you for that info on the PolyClay, up until now all i`ve ever used was the Mothers Clay/Spray combo. I`ll have to check into the SONUS options.

Thanks again.

A couple of other options are Optimum Opti-Clay http://www.autogeek.net/opt600.html, which I use and love plus its cheap, or if you want cheaper autopia has this http://www.autopia-carcare.com/tps-clylub.html, I dont know how this stuff is, but I hope its good cause I bought 3.

As for the multiple products, I say if you have the money and want to try them, then why not. I find it quite fun to try out new products, whether I already have an equivalent or not as long as its not too much $. This weekend I bought about 20 different products to try and I cant wait to try them, whether I need them or not. Good luck with all your products and it should be fun trying them.

A recent post from our friend Superior Shine comes to mind.

Of course, I'm paraphrasing, but...

"I never made money until I stopped chasing "the perfect wax." "

Truly something to think about, especially for you "New Guys".

Hi Jim,

I`m not trying to find the perfect wax or to make money, I do this as a hobbey and for friends/referrals only and thoroughly enjoy testing/trying new products. If I was worried about buying products and turning around and making a profit I would not be doing this. :D

Well, then it is all good, isn't it?

Damn! Have fun. Go for it and report/review everything you learn! :grinno:

Jim

Deciding to add the following...

Sonus SFX Ultra-Fine Detailing Clay

Sonus Block Detailing Clay

Sonus Glyde Detailing Clay Lubricant

Sonus Hand Polish Bundle

Sonus Carnauba Spritz

Sonus Detailing Spritz

I realized I didn't have but a few small brushes, and have been cleaning my wheels with a dirty mit (wheel usage only), and figured I could cut my time in half with some brushes.

Meguiars Versa-Angle Tire Brush

Meguiars Versa-Angle Wheel Face Brush

Meguiars Water Magnet Drying Towel

I DROPPED one of these on the ground :( :furious:

Meguiars Deep Pile Chenille Wash Mitt

(Decided on adding another)

Autoglym Car Interior Shampoo

It was on sale! - Figured I`d give it a whirl

Ok, I think i`m set for a lot of testing :)

I really want to get a PC and learn to use it on my jeep as it has TONS of scratches... in the future :woot:
