Funny again, but I just went back to the other forum, and
the terms I was searchng came all back up again. Maybe it
was just a glich, but it just seemed odd to me that certain
non-sposor backed products were removed, and then
came back, while other terms and threads just were never
lost.

If you mean the one that I think you do, I know for a fact no specific product mentions were removed . That has never been policy and practice.

I'm not saying it was policy or practice. I'm just saying
that when I was doing some research, I tried pulling up
some of the threads, and the none of the terms or
threads were available. Seems like it was a one day thing, but
I just thought it very peculiar the way i was only able
to pull up sponsor friendly terms and threads, while some
non-sponsored threads and terms were no where to be
found. Just to validate my concern, I touched base with
one of the other posters to the forum, and he indicated that
all of his threads appeared to have been deleted.

Anyway, everything seems to be back to normal.

IMO i feel that this forum was and is set up to help detailers do the best job and use the best products to have the best results. It is for that reason that I think if we find a deal somewhere else we should let the world know. Its the same as word of mouth but im not going to call the thousands of members. But the way I see it is the sponsors are the best out there, they have great service and work hard to make us happy and that will pay off in the end. I know when people ask what prodcust to use i recomened they check out DC for the links to retailers. Also we still have the discount code (which we all love) so i dont think buisness will go down as we all already go to walmart to buy things this will just maybe save a few trips to look

I don't see a problem with a review or recommendation of another product. When it comes to recommending a vendor that is not a sponsor I don't think that's fair to those that cough up $$ to be here.

I feel we all purchase alot of products and if we find something interesting elsewhere you should share that info if you wish to. Our sponsors can then locate said item and carry it if they dont already. It also keeps everyone honest no?I feel many people have a fav. or two for their own reasons also and that is fine also. Its all about service and cost ,and when shipping is so high it's also nice to purchase what we need from one stop, but thats not easy.

well, although i am new to this forum i have been using wolfgang, pb, pinnacle and other so called high end products for a long while now. otc products have their place even for a pro detailer. but i dont think that otc products can really do what the high end ones can for the looks of a car..... you can always tell a difference in the two...
just my two cents...
i will be ordering more pb and wolfgang in the near future..(my 2 fav's)..

Its not stated anywhere on this site that its mandatory to recommed a sponsers product. If i can recommed a better product or a better price then i will.

Also a few of you are saying we should recommed and buy from the sponsers cause they pay all kinds of money to be here.

I SAY, Since when does becoming a sponser to this site or any site guarantee that people will buy from you?

There is no guarantee.

I just wish the members would go about posting as they would whether companies advertise here or not. I've said it before and I will say it again, members came first, advertisers came because of the growing and active membership.

The membership does not owe any recomendations to companies that advertise here. The companies get there money's worth by running banners and having their own forums.

Yeah, I want to see companies that advertise get their money's worth but at the same time I cringe when I see members that think they are obligated to only discuss products available from companies that advertise here. That isn't the way it works.

On the other hand, this is no way gives spammers, shills and trolls the right to go undercover and get free product promotion here either.

I use a multitude of vendors to shop from depending on who has what I want and at what price. I will post the links here where I see fit depending on the conversation. I have no loyalty to anyone on the Internet. I'm loyal to my own budget. I spread my meager wealth to nearly all the vendors here and elsewhere based on pricing and availability.

So to answer Charles, I have no problem posting information about products that are available from some place other than the sponsors.

However, with that said, posting links to other vendors INSIDE vendor sponsored threads and forum is wrong. If you feel you need to make someone aware of something in a vendor sponsor thread that violates this protocol, either PM the person or start a new thread outside the vendor forum.

Our wallets and ability to alert folks to good deals shouldn't be held hostage to or by site sponsors. But there is a way to articulate these other vendor good deals. Doing it in a vendor sponsored forum is not it.
