Recommend me some Trim Restorers

I had to buff one spot on my car near the trim and didn't think about taping it up at the time. So its a little dull and one part is little white'ish :wall

I'm looking for a better trim restorer than this crap, Mothers BB. I see a lot of them, PoorBoys, Meguairs, Black WOW(expensive!)...etc. Which would you recommend or is it just more personal preference? Pro/cons?
 
I personally like Poorboys Trim restorer it works great and leaves a nice restored finish without leaving any type of greasy residue... It makes it look black as if it was new trim installed as opposed to a shiney somewhat dull look.
 
Where's the 'cheapest' place to order from? So far, it looks like direct from PB site is the cheapest.

trying using some peanut oil on a tooth brush to remove it then wash that off...it sounds silly but works really well...as for a something that you can use to bring back the luster in the trim and remove the wax...PB TR is the product...you can order threw his site

I tried using peanut butter once but found myself eating more of it then using it...:D
 
Use some dish soap mixed up in a spray bottle, that should remove the residue.


Automagic makes 2 products that would work for you when your moldings need restoring. One of them is called bumper magic, this would work well if you just want to add some gloss back to them.

If what your trying to restore is truley faded you will need something more then just some silicone based dressing. They also have a product called black trim restorer i think. Its almost like a paint/dye. You apply it with a brush and let it dry. Like i said this is not a silicone dressing this will restore the actual color of the moldings and it won't wash off.
 
I'm with everyone else. Poorboys trim restorer is top notch. wipe your palstic down with alcohol and water 1:1 and massage the TR into the palstic. Let it sit for 5 mintues or so, maybe even heat it up with a hair dryer lightly, and wipe it down with a cloth. The protection it leaves behind on plastics lasts me 3-4 weeks and makes palstics bead wonderfully.

I like the initial look of PB's TR, but the durability leaves me wanting. It just doesn't last for me past the first wash. My search continues.

Just curious, how many coats did you apply? At first I only applied one and was pretty disappointed. Then I learned to apply multiple coats (2-4) about a half hour apart and the results were much much better.
 
Budman, IIRC (I seem to have developed that CRS disease :redface:) you had a thread a while back about a Jeep (I think) that you did multiple applications. I replied in that thread that I was going to try your process (again if it wasn't you...never mind). I did. I didn't notice any better performance (read durability).

Yeah that was me, that was when I realized the multiple coats. It lasted about a month before it needed another coat.

I haven't tried Black Wow but a lot of people like that, and its supposed to last a long time. Expensive but I guess you don't need to use a lot and it lasts. That may be the last resort before using a dye or something.
 
give a good cleaning with dish soap and water, a mist of APC, rub area clean with terry cloth or MF while rinsing and washing, dry off area with clean MF towel, and use some stoners a light coat and rub in with any applicator pad let sit a few minutes then 303 it up ! should be good as new and shiny for a while .. i find this works for me most of the time !

That photo is a great testimony for PB TR. I never thought of wiping down first with the 50/50 Alcohol. Is that to clean and remove any other products first?
