Here are two recent details.

This PT cruiser was first on the agenda and suffered from the regular neglect received when people don't have the time to wash their vehicles. After a good wash it didn't look too bad but the surface was loaded with contaminants.

Washed x2 with Megs Deep Crystal car wash

Tires scrubbed with APC

Hubcaps cleaned with 1:1 APC

Clayed with Claymagic

Polished with Megs ColorX

Finished with NXT

All exterior trim was treated with Armor-All

Washed with Megs Deep Crystal Wash

Tires scrubbed with APC

Wheels cleaned with 1:10 solution of APC and car wash soap using the Megs rim brush to reach the insides of the wheels

Clayed with Sonus Block Detailing Clay (nice clay for light stuff, had to go over the area a few times on this mini)

Polished the roof with Sonus SFX1 and 4" spot pad with PC to remove bad scratches from a local tunnel wash

PC with SFX2 on the whole car

PC with Megs #5 machine glaze

PC with Megs #26 Hi tech yellow wax

All exterior trim treated with Armor All

And finally my brother wanted a thumbs up for my work... here it is.

You may want to brace yourself for this

wow... that mini had silver wheels?!

great job!

may i ask what you used to apply your tire dressing? it doesnt look like an even application on the PT. it may just be the tire design though.

Nice work on the Mini. Looks really deep in some of those shots. Hopefully the owner keeps it clean, especially the wheels.

Didn't know minis got so much brake dust. WOW. You did an awesome job on both. :xyxthumbs

probably because they're bmw's and bmw's are notorious for brake dust. i think bmw's make enough dust to dirty the wheels of cars that are parked next to them.

Thank y'all for the compliments!

Neothin - Of course you can ask.... haha. I used a squirt bottle to apply and came back with a terry towel to buff it out. The dressing may be a bit uneven but the tires did have plenty of different textures on the sidewall.

Bioman - I feel your pain. The brakes are great on the G35 but the Brembo's dust like crazy.

Tomee & KevinA - Thanks! I think this picture captured the moment wonderfully by showcasing the mini's reflections as well as my character and personality.

You've gotta have fun in life... :D

Hey there!!!

Next week I´ll be detailing another CooperS, same as this but in clear blue... Any tips to follow?

You are complaining about the brake dust... mine has the optional WHITE! rims... As Homer would say... ouch!!!

Sorry once again my poor english... Greets from Spain!

I did one last year. From doing some research, be very careful with the paint under the hood if you detail the engine. It will rub off very easily.

Tnx pt91, I´ll have it on mind... Of course mi intention is to write a little review of the process ;) I´m not used to post a lot in autopia and I often detail nice rides ;) That kind of rides that never get in the USA market ;)

More tips are wellcome!!!

First off your English on this post is better than some I've seen from people here (the states), good job. Secondly, Homer says DOH! not ouch :D

The mini was pretty straight forward. You may not be able to contact all of the surface areas up front with any pad on the PC due to the countour of the car. That shouldn't pose too much of a problem for you though.

Just take your time and be careful as always. Also remember that just because it's a Mini, a full detail still takes a good bit of time (for me it did anyway).

Good luck and have fun!

Second that. Don't worry about your English. Most of us can barely handle a primary language, much less a secondary language. Look forward to pictures of the Mini you detail. :xyxthumbs

Yeah, I´ve waxed it a few times, and noticed that. I think that with my set of 4" that wont be a big problem.

Autopia is a great source of complementary info for me ;) :woot:
