Presidential Detailed: Blackwood, SN95 COBRA and MORE!

Due to time restraints and the severity of the paint issues on both of these cars I did not get a chance to document the details as well as I wanted, so Im posting them together. SR Performance sent me both of these cars once again, so I gotta give them thanks for sending me work! First up is a 2002 Lincoln Blackwood, the paint on this truck was in pretty rough condition and even with heavy compounding, the paint could only be restored to about a 85-90% finish without sanding.

Even in the flourescent lighting, the defects could clearly be seen. This truck was pretty much grey.

A little help from the halogens.

Going to town with M105/Burgundy Wool using the KBRM.

A clear improvement!

I was out of time so I only got a few final shots..

I got this job while working on the Blackwood, the customer wanted me to do a test spot to see if I could make any difference at all on his Cobra. This paint on this thing was REALLY bad, this car wasnt even black anymore! I knew I wouldnt even get close to a full correction out of it, so I just did what I could and the owner was even amazed at that when he came to pick up the car! haha!

A definite improvement, but far from my standards of a full paint correction.

I wanted to finish this car in a day, so I didnt take very many detailed photos as I went as I knew it wasnt going to be impressive anyways(atleast to me ).

So I started making my way around..

Another 50/50 of the fender.

This was the difference in color even after 1 pass with compound on the fender.

You can clearly see the defects in this car even without any significant light source.

So was your final polishing step M205 of both cars? If so, looks like you definitely got the M205 dialed in now!

SHHHhhhhh! I got a gel cover, so it doesnt slide! haha!

As far as the 205, these cars all were fairly hard clears, which I have found 205 works well on. Still using UF on the softer stuff for peace of mind.

Looks great Billy, they always have a hard CC from what I heard, Try doing some wet sanding and then go over with 3m wool pad with 3M Perfect-It 3000 Extra Cut or 3M Super Duty compound on those bad areas a few times.

These customers werent worried about that extra little bit of correction, so I just did what I could.
