Polish/wax final 1-step

i usually use a finishing pad and polish to finish up followed by spray wax.. but i was thinking.. is there a true 1-step polish/wax strong enough to get rid of buffer trails and just not hide them?

i was looking at hi-temp's #69 paint perfection which claim.. "It combines Hi-Temp's top selling #HT-61 Smooth Cut Swirl Remover and a durable Paint Sealant". Nowadays im using HT-61 to finish up and it works great.. will the #69 do the same amount of polishing too?

there is also #285 which is basically the same thing, One-Step Polish & Wax, but claims to be a little more durable? this one claims to be a polish/wax while #69 claims to be a cleaner/wax. which is better?

I just ordered Hi-Temp's #69, for the purpose of using is as a one-step polish/wax.

I ordered it because of the fact that it has their #61 Smooth Cut in the mix. I love that stuff...it never fails me. So I'm hoping the #69 will serve me just as well.

i just recieved my order of hi temp 69. have yet to try it. i've got some scuffing on my driver quarter i'd like to try it on. hmm maybe i'll give it a shot now and come back with the results.

did you try a alcohol wipedown to see if anything will come back?

honestly i did not do an alcohol wipedown. actually i QD that spot and nothing remained. then later on in the day, roughly about 2-3 hours later i washed the car and still the same results you see in the photo.

Ive been working with Hi Temp stuff for a lil while; specifially HT Fine Finish, and Paint Perfection Glaze. Here's my take on the products:

Both work into the paint very well by machine but not as well by hand.

Fine Finish does not come off very easy for me, but once it comes off, it leave behind a nice finsh. Excellent on light colors and metallics. It is less aggressive than PPG IMHO, but it can do some work if you use a polish pad. Allow it to cure for a day or so and the finish becomes much more better. Protection lasts about 1-2 months depending on enviromental conditons and how the paint is washed. Topping with OCW gives the paint extra pop.

PPG is significantly easier to work with, in both application by machine and removal by hand. It also does more work with polish pad. It leaves a nice finish on all colors ive used it on. Finish does not seem to change that much once fully cured. Finish lasts about 1-2 months depending on enviromental conditons and how the paint is washed.Topping with OCW also gives extra pop.

the wax will hide much longer.. give it a few days and see if anything comes back.. or just do the alcohol wipe down.

so you believe that its just wax hiding the scuffs and scratches? what about the cutting ability of the smooth cut?

i hope not because i just ordered a gallon of it! the smooth cut polish seems to work good for me and the 69 claims to have some 61 in it too. im sure it will some swirls and such because a lot of waxes do. im hoping for the same cut or a bit less than 61.

It does a good job. But it doesnt have all the cutting capabilities as the smooth cut. But for those light jobs, i dont think you would be disappointed.

i dont need much cutting.. just to get rid of buffer trails left behind and maybe some light marring. is there any hiding ability to it? how long would you say the wax last?

Poli Seal does a pretty good job for me. AIO type products are kinda limited in the amount of cut they can have, because they HAVE to finish nicely. I have been using Poli Seal as a final polish on most of all my late work. It is ok for an AIO at removing swirls, but dont expect miracles.

The HT-69 is a great product. Like most 1-steps it has it's limitations as far as how much correction it will do ... but for ease of use, price, and results it is a good choice. I haven't tried OPS yet though.
