I don't know about you folks but I have all my products on one shelf in my garage.. these are the ones that are in spray and pour type bottles.. the gallons and quarts are on a different shelf. My MF towels are on a shelf of there own...Funny thing as organized as they look, I can be using a spray bottle set it down and its lost in the mix of stuff.....this drives me crazy when I 'm trying to get a job done....I label the bottles but they seem to get lost, the whole time its right in front of me....I was thinking about going to colored bottles to quicker ID them.

Anywho the reason for this thread was do you have the same problem?

as you can see I purchased some plastic shelving from target. Cost me like 25 bucks.

I just have my products organized based on what they do. I have qd's on one side and waxes/sealants, ect on the other.

NOTE: I recently removed all my gallon containers to the bottom, seeing that the top shelf was bending.
 
Same problem here. I have a cabinet set up in the basement where all of my stuff is. Well the space is now limited so I am constantly trying to find products. I have all of my chemicals in there and the MF's are in a few Rubbermade containers. Other tools are in the drawers and PC and Rotary are on top of the cabinet. It's so easy to become lazy and not put the product I use away, so it always looks like a mess.

Oh good glad that I'm not the only one with this problem...I swear I was using some TR in PB spray bottle...I set it down on the shelf went about my business came back to look for it and it took me a few minutes to find it, the whole time it was right in front of me......Its like at times they disappear:)

LOL!! I've had the same thing happen to me more than once... it's really annoying, especially if I'm working on a customer's car and I need to get it done in a hurry!
 
Well one thing that I have learned is to always set it back in the same area...if you set it down someplace else in the garage your dust!


I really think that this year I'm gong to look for some colored bottles this should help in ID-ing the product faster

any ideas as to where they can be found?
 
I found this place a while back. They offer plastic and glass bottle and jars in 5 different colors. They have a clear plastic, a natural plastic, blue, green, and amber. They also have a wide variety of caps and dispensers. I don't think any of the bottles are rated for anything very acidic, but those are usually kept separately anyway. The size selection is pretty good too.

I have my setup all in my basement, stays around the same temp. year round and I don't have to worry about everything freezing up in the winter. Anyway, I have two of these that I got at Target...

They seem to work nice, and allow me to keep everything organized. If I'm detailing my car, I'll take whatever I'm working with outside. If I'm doing someone else's car I have 2 big sterlite containers that I put whatever I need in them. I really don't have problems with mixing up bottles, then again I really cut my collection down to what I like, so that might have to do something with it. :D
 
I feel thinner shelving is better and if you make teirs in your deeper shelfs it helps alot. Also use what you got,,, like I had an extra drawer from my when my kitchen was built so I added some shelves to it and it makes good storage. I had an extra wine rack also which I really like. You have to put stuff back in its place that way you know where it is. my process anyway:)

I can't wait to get our guest bedroom fixed up that way I can move things around and get some shelving and storage containers in there. Kinda like a make-shift garage. unfortunitly I live in a 2nd floor condo so I have no true garage of my own.

Happens all the time. I have a cabinet I keep most of the chemicals in and then some plastic bins on my garage shelving i keep all the MF product in alos keep PC Pads and other detailing pads and such in bins. Then the PC is on the shefl just above in it's own case. Most of my brushes just hang on the wall next to the cabinet.
