old red wine stain?

Anyone have any ideas on what I could use to get out a red wine stain ? its on the carpet of a lexus that I am detailing . I have used my capret shampoo/brightener and it took some out (what was on the surface anyhow) but I cant seem to get out where it soaked through to the backing of the carpet.

Hi

After using all my spot&stain removers arsenal without success

I use a little white wine to remove it. Sometimes on carpet and once on seats. It looks weird but works many times.

Just thought I'd share that that Red Wine song by UB40 (kinda regge sounding?) from a long time ago has been stuck in my head all day from reading the title of this thread. Its driving me crazy.

I know, completely OT. :D

Good luck with your stain!

We just had a household disaster with someone spilling RED punch on a white counter. We wiped it up with wet cloths, but the red stain was still there. Got a few suggestions from this site and used a small amount of Milk first, spread it over the stain, let it sit for a minute or so then wiped with a terry cloth. Then followed with Folex 2X, let it sit for a minute and wipe. The "tough" red stains came up pretty easily. Have to double-check again in the morning to make sure its fully gone.

Get a rag or sponge a soak the red wine up until it’s all removed, its that easy.

Wasn't that easy sir, although your idea may work for carpeting. We soaked and wiped it with water first but the stain was still ingrained in the white counter. The product 'Wine Way Red Wine Stain Remover' was highly recommended a couple times on that website, but it was 11pm, too late for shopping. Both the Milk(!) and Folex seemed to emulsify the stain by letting it sit for a minute. Just a bit of Milk spread over the stain area really improved it and Folex took care of the rest.

Folex

Oxi-Clean

Kids & Pets

Amazon has them all, if you want a reference point. Most Wal-Marts, Targets, and KMarts carry them as well.

Thanks for the suggestion. AUTOPIA was my first visit looking for an answer and this thread led me to the other website. Red Stains removal is a good discussion to have!

Guys I know this is slightly off topic, but what's the best way to get a red wine spill out of an off white sweater? I made a slight party foul the other night and was unable to find a replacement sweater online for her..thought maybe there was something I could do but wanted to check here first. I do have the dry vapor steamer and hwe at my disposal..lol...thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Fwiw club soda did nothing. Then I made a concotion of 20% dawn and 80% hydrogen peroxide and mixed it in a glass. I applied it with a qtip enough to soak each wine stained area (god I wish I took befores/afters, it's amazing). After about a min the red stains started changing color, and while they faded, they turned a slightly darker greener color. Rinsed or not, this would not have been acceptable, as it still showed marks. Enter dry vapor steamer. This really sealed the deal. Blasting each area I doused with the solution with the vapor, the soapy solution, spots, and stains all disappeared before my eyes...took me about 10-15 mins total, the off white sweater is literally perfect with no traces even if you know where to look.. :)

So are you saying the Dawn and HP solution worked and needed to be rinsed out or the vapor was the real key.

I tried the dawn/hp solution with simple rinsing to no avail...the vapor was definitely needed. I did not try the vapor on any spots w/out the solution.
