Need advice? Best products for a white car?

Everyone:

This forum is excellent! Can some professionals please recommend the best cleaner, clay bar, polish and wax for a new white car. Most of the reviews and recommendations I have been reading deal with dark colored cars. I have a white 02 CLK 430 and I have been using the 3 step Meguairs cleaner, show car polish and 26 liquid carnuba. I think the car shines, but I would like to see if I can take it to another level. I also need a good safe clay bar for the little tar spots I see on the bumper and the trunk.

Where is the best online site to order from?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Autopia! There is a ton of useful info here. As a fellow white car driver I can say that Klasse will look great. Do some searches on that product. There are a thousand online places you can order from. All I can really suggest is that you do a search in our systems for Klasse and maybe look for 'Retailers' or something. I'm sure it will turn up the info you are looking for.

Klasse is a great cleaner and selant. It will help with your cleaning needs but will also last much longer than the Meguiar's program that you are using currently. If you want the deep wet look of a wax then you can always top Klasse with any carnauba wax you have availible to you (provided that it doesn't have any cleaners in it).

I recommend Klasse because I've had great success with it. Its worth some looking into. Some other products that will no doubt be recommended will be Zaino, Blackfire, and Platinum. These are all great sealants that offer different results. Look into them and see what you think. There are a lot of pictures of white cars with these products on them down in the archives.

Well, this is my first post also. That CLK is a gorgeous car. :xyxthumbs

I also own a white car, an '01 Corvette. I tried virtually every product from Meguiars, Mothers, Liquid Glass, Pinnacle Souveran, and Zaino. For my $$, Zaino can't be beat. It is extraordinarily durable, and makes the car "glow." Some will disagree, but in my experience, carnauba waxes tended to "yellow" the surface. This is not to say that carnauba waxes didn't look great, but Zaino looks outstanding. On the other hand, I think carnaubas are much better on other colors, black for example.

There are many posts on Zaino (you can try the search feature), and you will need to check www.zainobros.com and email Sal to find a local distributor, or follow the send in a mail order form described on that site.

As far as products, I recommend Z-18 clay bar (Mothers clay bar sold in Pep Boys, etc. is a great substitute), Z-2 show car polish, Z-7 car wash, Z-6 spray detailer, and ZFX which allows you to layer up to 3 coats of Zaino a day. Believe me, it does get better with each coat.

One last thing, make sure to dawn wash before claying and have a surface as close to perfect as possible before beginning the Zaino process. The results are sure to impress.:D

Here's a shot of Zaino on my hood, sorry it's not great quality, but I had to shrink the pic, and the shine is evident:

Welcome to Autopia :)

Dont worry about using a clay bar, as long as you have lots of lubrication you will struggle to damage the paintwork. There is lots of information here on how to use clay. I use 3M but there are plently of good clays made by other firms.

Get your paintwork very very clean and the rest is easy. Tachnique is more important than product.

The Mothers claybar is very easy to use, and widely available (I got mine at Walmart).

I'll second the Zaino recommendation. Standard waxes just don't last very long. Synthetics like Zaino really last. Plus, it doesn't stain the trim or leave dust in every crevice. I've also heard good things about Klasse and Blackfire, but I haven't tried them so I can't speak from personal experience on those.

This forum is great. I think I want to purchase and try the zaino products. I went to the site and it said I have to call for local dealers because I live in NJ. I called the 732 number 3 times and it says its no longer in service. Does anyone have contact information for zaino products. In NJ?

Thanks

i think if your white car is not clear coated (and white usually is not...), you should use Z3 instead of Z2.

It's best to use a colored clay like the yellow Mothers or Eraser yellow ones, or Clay Magic's Blue Bar. It's hard to see any residue left by a white clay bar.

A carnauba that looks fabulous on white is P21S if by some chance you're still interested.

Meguiars polishes are generally made for all paint types. 3M has a number of them that differentiate between light and dark cars. Both work very well.

P21S/S100 looks great on a white car as does Klasse. I just switched to Klasse topped with S100 and it looks great and I hope it will be more durable then the carnauba only. Good luck with whatever you choose. Remember both Zaino and Klasse are very hard to see when put on properly on a white car. When putting on Klasse it was disappearing as it dried and it almost looked like I hadn't applied anything until I wiped it off.
