I have been a porsche enthusiast since I was a kid. However, I will have to agree with the other reactions to the cayenne. It is not the most attractive truck I have seen, in fact it doen't even look like a truck. I have owned 4 porsches and will probably always have one in the stable but when it comes to trucks I am a hardcore advocate of USA manufacturing, styling, comfort and exhaust note. When I fire up the flow masters on my GMC denali (loaded with luxury interior features) it makes my heart hesitate with excitement. The plush ride notwithstanding, there is never any doubt that I am behind the wheel of a truck that is poised and ready to kick *ss when called upon.
I believe the cayenne probably will have an impressive 0 - 60 time, but if I wanted to get to 60 mph in 5 seconds surely I wouldn't grab the keys to the truck.

it really angers me. i am not what you would call a

Well I don't like that Porsche has blurred their engineering focus, of building one of the world's finest sports cars, to capitalize on the burgeoning SUV market.
However aesthetically, imho, it looks attractive <strong class='bbc'>for an SUV[/b]. I like the looks considerably better than the other SUVs made in Germany. To me the BMW SAV looks muscular but also kinda boxy and too short and squat. The MB SUV looks puny and econocarish.
If this Porsche is using the companies' 3.6 litre, 6 cylinder boxer engine with a turbo be prepared to see 350+ horsepower and some impressive performance statistics.

I will agree with most of you that the Cayenne is at best a 4 on a scale of 1 - 10 in terms of aesthetics. But when it comes to engineering and performance this truck is all porsche.
Cayenne Turbo Specs:
4.5 liter V-8
450 horse power!
0-62mph in 5.6 seconds (rice burners beware)
165 mph Top Speed
Factory 20" rims available
All I can say is only Porsche

Whoa that's a lot of ponies. That alone is going to set it apart from the rest of the SUV crowd. Speaking of that I read somewhere that there are 37 offerings in the SUV field this year amongst all of the manufacturers.

The '94 3.6 litre turbo 911 was the last two wheel drive turbo made by Porsche. All turbo 911s since then have been AWD. They also sell an AWD Carrera called the C4 short for Carrera 4.

FWD = AWD
If by FWD you mean "Four Wheel Drive" than yes there have been several models with all wheel drive/steering. As for FWD meaning "front wheel drive" there has never been such a Porsche.
BTW AWD Porsches are just an evolutionary step for what is by far the most successful sports car model in history - the 911. For the old school "911 purists" please get a grip. The 911 has and will continue to evovle to remain on the cutting edge of engineering and technology. The introduction of the Cayenne has concerned the Porsche aficionados but I don't think it's justified. The 911 will always be Porsche's golden child and will never be replaced.
The older model 911 are very limited compared to today's generation. Don't get mad at me for saying it - (lap times speak for themselves). I cannot imagine why someone would try to take a sharp exit ramp at triple digit speed and not want AWD. Porsche cars have always been ahead of their time. No other car has the history of the 911 from a backbone concept that has continued to exist in modern form. The "real purists" can appreciate the concept of evolving of our beloved 911.
Got to go, there are a few exit ramps around here that need a little straightening

there is not much on this little device in this forum. just some background, i know there is a lot of hate but i've been using it for a few years and quite frankly the fact that i don't have to dry my car is the only reason i still wash it myself.
its really 2 parts, the filter and the soap. mr clean has discontinued the autodry system therefore finding filters and soap is getting hard to come by. guess what, im out of the soap.
looking for an alternative. there was a FAQ about the soap on the mr. clean website but its not there anymore, there are several features of the soap that i think are important if my memory serves me right:
from reading this forum and researching (by "researching" i really mean googling) it seems that 1Z Perls Shampoo is a close if not exact replica of this soap. the mr. clean soap was not very sudsy and i don't know if amount of suds is proportionally related to how good a soap is. could be why it got so much hate. as i understand 1Z Perls wasn't overly sudsy either. left by itself there was also a noticable gloss in the paint once dried.
unfortunately 1Z Perls is out of stock at PAC and i was wondering if there are any other soaps that come close to it? thanks for any advice (begun, the flame-war has).

- high lubricity
- polymers for sheeting
- phosphate free to feel good about killing the planet
