Most hydrophobic coating?

I used the EXO v1 when it first came out and liked it very much. Last weekend I used the EXO v2 and it is a terriffic product from an application and gloss standpoint. It has not been wet yet so i cannot speak to the hydrophobic properties. I can tell you it is slick as anything I have ever felt.

Application is easy as long as you can see the coating flashing. My car is pearl white so that was the tough part. I applied it and watched it flash the best I could and wiped it off inside 30-45 seconds. Basically coat a pannel, wipe the pannel and move on. I cut the hood and roof into 4 sections overlapping 6-8 inches.

I did find a few high spots dispite my vigilance. One or two. These were easily scrubbed out with a make-up pad and a fresh hit of EXO v2. They were small and on the A pillars close to the side view mirror on the passenger side and one in the roof edge near some window trim. I discovered them prior to applying the 2nd coat inside the 1 hour mark.

Overall, if the durability and gloss are equal or better than v1 i will bew very happy. One NY winter coming up as a test bed. I will post the write up this weekend and follow it up after the winter to report on durability. It sits outside 24/7.

Thank you. I got very inspired after seeing your Ferarri write up.

The good news is I am getting better each time I break out the polisher. I would never believe I could get even more gloss out of the paint than before.

Wow Jeff, that looks amazing. :bigups:bigups:bigups:bigups

Wow !!!!

Incredible

Based on what I've used so far, I'd say CQuartz Finest. I do have EXOv2 but haven't gotten around to testing it yet.

I would love to hear your opinion on that.

Is finest the slickest Cquartz? I have heard from many that it is CQuartz UK is slickest but Finest is a pro version and more durable.

Any idea?

I haven't tried the UK yet so I can't really comment. Finest isn't slick like a sealant, but more so than say OC. :bigups

Here is Finest on my wife's old car

Well after watching this vid Finest is definitely on my radar. I've owned numerous volvo's and am on my 2nd S60. I know the paint extremely well, this was quite impressive...

I need to pick a coating before the horrid Long Island winter hits! I'm up the air though, it's either CQ UK, CQ Finest, 22ple Glass or PA Cosmic 9H (2 Step).

Wow, the scotch brite test was impressive!

If ya do get the polish angel cosmic 9H do post how it holds up, I've been using the polish angel master sealant and it's really nice makes my truck glow, and shine, beads like crazy, also got a bottle of their presto detailed and rapids wax, I would love to hear how well it holds up,

I heard that it comes off with ease with light solvents from a reliable source

Any proof, I seriously need to see data sheets. After hours of picking apart reviews there is VERY little factual evidence by almost all companies except opti-coat (Which has disclosed multiple tests). Cquartz has shown it's durability against scratches so that is an added bonus.

I'm waiting on a reply from a european detailer who has used 9H, Quartz and Modesta.

Viking shield is nice but I've only found one car done by it and a couple of reviews all stating how easy it was to apply. I honestly don't care about how hard it is to apply as long as the results justify the work. I'm doing a full 2/3 step + jeweling, than coating, sealant maybe a coat of M16 just for fun since I haven't used either of my 2 cans. This is going to be a one shot deal and I'm making sure with that kind of work I'm not going to have any redo's...

The one thing I know for now is unless modesta truly backs up claims about 3-10 years, I will almost 100%, be carrying CQ Finest for my customers.
