Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax - keep it or return it?

It may seem like an odd question, but I think I'm experiencing a bit of buyers' remorse before I've even opened the package. I picked up some of the liquid UW recently at a Canadian Tire sale. Unfortunately with Meguiar's outrageous CDN pricing on many things, even at 25% it still cost $26.

What I'm doubting though is whether I really need this product. What will it do... what would it bring to the table for me? The reason I ask that is I am currently really liking WG DGPS 3.0, and also recently rediscovered my polycharger kit that had been sitting on the shelf unused until recently. I can experiment with polycharging any number of my products I already have sitting there from yesteryear: NXT 1.0, 4*UPP, EX-P, CMW or heck even M20 or M26.

I told myself I wasn't going to buy any new LSPs in the short term if I didn't have to, and especially not an OTC consumer product and yet there I went and picked up the ultimate wax anyway.

What do you think... should I keep it or take it back? Please share your thoughts in regards to my dilemma.

Thanks.

You got bit by the LSP bug, LOL. That said, You did buy a pretty decent sealant in Meg's ULW. I'd give it a try, At $26cn that is a pretty good sealant. It looks good and lasts a long time. What more do you want?

ULW will outlast all the products you mentioned in beading, looks and slickness. It stays slick longer than anything I've ever tried, and I've tried a lot of stuff. Its like Blackfire on steroids. And if Megs Canada is anything like Megs USA, you'll get a refund if you aren't happy.

Like BFWD on steroids, man, I will def use this next!

Make sure to give it some cure time. Actually, high spots and its initial looks are its Achilles, but it improves after a few hours. I was reading somewhere else where someone didn't find it slick enough and topped it after an hour!!!!

Slicker than Wolfgang... really?

I'm going to swing by my Canadian Tire and see if it's on sale here (BC). 26 bucks is pretty good.

CT flyer sales usually run from Friday-Thursday, so hopefully you were able to get there last night. The sale is probably over now today. (However if you talk to a manager, CT has been know to forgive a sales deadline and honour the prior week's sale price. It can be worth asking.)

Man, I used Wolfgang when I first started, great looks and all but didn't last too long. I want to use my Meg's wax, and I have time off to do it. So why am I typing instead of waxing, moving my daughter back to college. I missed out last year due to a fall in the shower- thought I broke my ribs! And we have rain coming...

It's slick and looks good. I would say it is as slick as anything I have used, probably moreso. It's my LSP of choice, though next time I will be using the paste. Top it with some UQW after your wash and it will stay nice and fresh.

Can anyone compare the ULW to 845? Is there a comparison?

While I can't comment on absolute longevity, I'd prefer the Meguiar's Ultimate (paste) Wax over the #845. It's a very good product, great gloss, great slickness and you get a huge tin at W*mart for $20. I've used it on a couple cars and have been very surprised with the result. And it's super e-z to apply/remove.

A thoroughly modern product :)

Some things I like about ULW are that it is very slick, looks great, lasts a long time and can be used in direct sunlight. Also, it doesn't stain trim, even textured trim, and it doesn't dry white so no dust. This is one product that if used properly, is hard to see where it has been applied, especially on lighter colors. Oh yes, it's really easy on and off too. It is one of my favorite LSPs and I have a garage cabinet full of products.

As mentioned previously, some have reported occasional streaking, especially if not applied to a well prepped paint or applied too thickly. High humidity may also lead to streaking. Most of the streaking I have seen was minor and disappeared in a few hours or by the next day. If you encounter streaking, it has been suggested on the Meg's forum, to use it as a WOWO. This method doesn't seem to adversely affect the longevity or appearance, IME. Like many sealants, it looks noticeably better the next day after it is fully cured.

Be aware that the paste wax version of UW will stain trim.

IMHO, this is a really, really nice LSP.

I love the stuff, though I do prefer the paste version. I think this is the most under rated sealant on the market.

Bought some paste today after having some streaking issues with the liquid. Wow. IMHO, it looks nicer and is even slicker than the liquid. EASY to use and no streaks. Slick as heck. Best part is that as it cures it looks better and gets slicker. Second coat tomorrow.

Agree that it is REALLY underrated. Nice product.

I went to Lordco, chatted up a manager and picked up the Ultimate Paste Wax for 24 bucks and it included a microfiber towel. Now I have to find time to see what it looks like on red. Maybe tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for the manager tip,

Return it and get the paste version.

The reason I picked the liquid version is I read (either on here or AG or on both forums) that the liquid is less likely to stain trim. That plus I'm more likely to apply a liquid LSP than a paste, since I tend to like applying with my PC.
