Lowe's $10 Foam Gun

Forum brother p1et and few others have mentioned these "foam gun" a several times. I was curious and picked one up yesterday. I have not had a chance to try it but will do so this weekend. I want to see if a device like this would benefit my weekly washing routine before I plunk down $60 for the Gilmour.

This item is found in the hose section at Lowe's, which is vast at this time of the year. I had to search for a while before I found it.

The handle is metal, has a heavy feel to it.

Mfr's website www.orbitonline.com (I cannot find this item on the website)

Well, it looks kinda cheap ($10) however it doesn't seem like it would hold that much soap. Can you use it on a pressure washing application or garden hose only?

I paid $69.00 for mine, but I believe that place where I get them from builds them right there! I have dropped mine too many time to mention and it works EVERY Time. That is what scars me about the plastic casing on the "lowes" gun.

I have used this gun and found it to be worthless, I get better results using my Orthro weed and feed sprayer.

Still nothing I've used compares to the foam cannon that superbee allowed me to use. He posted photos and video of the cannon. DAMN it is a great tool. I'm saving my pennies to get one.

Thanks for posting this Tom!

I have been using this for a few months now and can safely say that I'm very happy with it. You cannot go wrong for $9 plus tax. It's built very well and I have dropped it many times without any damage inflicted whatsoever.

Will you get results like with a $60 Gilmour? No. If the Lowe's Foam Gun is on the right setting, you can get some very good results with it. I personally fill it halfway with Megs Gold Class and foam the car down.

The gun has many setting that I find helpful. I use the "fan" setting for spraying the car down initially to get the crud off. I find that the pressure is very good! When rinsing down a panel, I put it on the "shower". Works great as well.

I highly recommend this foam gun if you cannot or are waiting to afford the Gilmour.

Cool, thanks for adding some details, P1et! I hope to try mine this weekend...cars are surely due for some pollen relief!

I need to get a better "feel" for the whole foam gun scene. I just don't think I am ever gonna get comfortable going thru multiple ounces of soap to wash one car. So, I don't want to drop $60 on the proper unit 'til I decide whether I am willing to go thru so much shampoo. (I easily get away with 1/2oz. - 1oz. when washing the car via bucket.)

:)

FWIW, the Lowes' offering is definitely not a foam gun. It would need a foaming nozzle for that - it's a garden sprayer really. I keep an Ortho garden sprayer around for presoaking every now and then and it does an okay job, but it's a completely different tool from a foam gun. Unless you're just using your foam gun to spray a soap mix onto the car, you can't really use one of these sprayers in the same way that you'd use a gilmour (ie to reduce marring in your wash technique).

Yeah Guys I just bought one of these to kind of keep clean between washes, and honesly save your 10 dollars. Doesnt really foam at all. Just applies soap really. NOT worth it.

Greg, i got some DP Extreme Foam Formula today... gonna try it out today with some CW&G in the mix. Wife isn't home, so I won't be able to make a video of it, though.

I'm likin' this "foam gun". Had a very good quikee wash session with it this afternoon. Lubricity on every panel was equal and uniform. Never seen anything like it. News @ 11 ...
