I Have the Bauer 21mm polisher. It came with a 6.5 inch polishing pad. I saw a video where Apex tried that pad and immediately set it aside. The first time I tried it, it pulled and jumped and skipped. I set it aside and tried a different pad which was much smoother. After reading a bit about the forces that the pad experiences on a long throw machine, I got to thinking. I decided to put a hole in the center of the pad. It ended up being slightly off center but close enough. I then tried the pad again with the same polish as before and the results were totally different. The pad was totally predictable. It just kind of floated on the paint, even under moderate pressure it wasn`t hard to control.
To make sure this wasn`t a fluke, I took another soft, flat polishing pad that I had and tried it for comparison. While the pad worked fine, it just wasn`t quite as easily controlled as the pad with the hole. So, that`s the hole story.
