For those interested:

Target has this light:

which can helpful for finding defects. Only $24.99

Edit: This isn't the dual Xenon light that was previously available @ Lowes, but I did find this link:

if you want the Dual Xenon.

so what kind of replacement bulb would i need to get for one of these things if/when the bulb burns out? I'm just wondering because i dont want to buy something that will only work until the bulb burns out and then not being able to get a replacement and therefore the item being useless.

For a light you can EDC (everyday carry), here's my choices:

(Warning: Don't look if you don't want another expensive hobby! )

HDS Ultimate 60 - $195 (A little bit more bright than a 4-D Maglight, but constant brightness throughout its battery life)

Fenix L1P - $45 (A little bit less bright than a 3-D Maglight, and it dims as the battery dies)

Great flashlights! I carry around my Fenix L1P in my pocket now since I lost my HDS U60. :sadwavey:

I saw a 10 million candle power light at WalMart (I think) for nanoswirls-and the occasional bat signal :LOLOL

:grinno: :lol I'm trying to setup a "Buddha Signal" myself...Holy Swirly hood! Send out the Buddha Signal!

Another Super Bright Flashlight:

I can vouch for the brightness of a surefire, I use mine for uses unmentionable on this forum... :nervous:

Unfortunately, small, cheap, and bright usually don't go together. I wouldn't go for that little flashlight personally.

Cheap and bright

Small and bright

Brinkmann Maxfire LX - It can be found in Walmart $20, but it uses 2xCR123. You can get cheap CR123 from Surefire.com or BatteryStation.com ($1-$1.25/each). It's very compareable to the Surefire G2 Nitrolon ($35).

Edit: Removed line about batteries.

I'm using Inova T2 LED (2 watt) to check for swirls. Pretty cool thing, it produces 40 lumens of constant light for 5 hours.

Just to revive this thread, I picked up one of those BRINKMANN MAXFIRE lights at target last night and this thing is super bright, definately brighter than a 3D cell maglight and its only 6" long. Best part about it is that it came with a leather holster, and two lithium batteries for 16 bucks.

I searched high and low for a local place to buy the Brinkmann Dual Xenon light. I ended up buying mine through Amazon.com. They have a deal going where if you get their credit card you get $30 off your first order. So, I just had to pay shipping.

well, as long as this thread is open, I use this small LED flashlight I bought from someplace on the internet... anyways, obviously its nearly useless for seeing defects (it just blinds you with how it pops the flake!), but great for seeing all the streaks on both side of the glass

Unfortunately, for some reason I can never seem to get my glass perfect, and the flashlight highlights that fact everytime I check it :o
