Introducing Calgary Auto Spa (lots of pics)

Hey guys I have been a lurker on this forum for a few months now, basically I've been helping my brother-in-law start a detail shop. We have been open for 2 weeks and have had an average of 1 full detail a day (In reality we had a couple of dead days and a few days packed full).

We are doing detailing, paint correction, 3M paint protection film, and tinting. My brother-in-law took a 3M course and has been doing that himself. We have a deal with a tinting guy who comes in and does quality tinting for a good price and we mark it up slightly to the customer.

I will start with some before & after pics:

We actually did a full paint correction on this prelude, I am using a FLEX VRG3401 w/ M85 + 83 and

M21 sealant. I have 2 buffing pads and 2 finishing pads (orange, yellow, white, black)

Your menu is so jacked up I don't even know where to begin

What is Odor Oxidation?

Shampooing trunks $49.95

Leather cleaned and conditioned $74.59. How did you come up with this number?

Odor oxidation is our name for a product I'm not familiar with but its basically some kind of aerosol "bomb" you release in the car and it gets in the vents and actually "kills" the source of the odor. I'm sure there is better options but I'm not the one in charge.

Also I didn't come up with the prices my brother in law did, trust me I just detail for him I try to let him run his business the way he wants haha. Also remember this is Canada so prices can seem a lot higher for everything here, especially in alberta which is an oil province. But yah its mostly him pricing everything insanely high.

For a fixed location most of your prices look comparable to the fixed shops in my area (Vancouver area). I personally would probably have more packages (like 4 or 5 package options) and less "a la carte" options...maybe like a basic wash and vac package, a full interior pkg, a full exterior pkg, a complete interior & exterior detail, and maybe one more. Some optional services are OK...engine cleaning, paint correction, odor removal, etc, but you will probably bring in more revenue with a package system. Just my 2 cents.

Shop looks like a good size. Lobby area looks good.

how can you charge 50.00 for a trunk shampoo? I can’t even charge any money for a trunk shampoo, because the trunk is considered part of the interior here.. Lucky to have a shop that large, looks great!

Cole - Very nice setup, I wish you guys luck ! I used to live in Calgary, not very far from where you shop is (just off Barlow, correct ?).

Thanks WAS, and your correct its just off barlow by T&T Honda...

As far as my pricing in all honesty were not gonna charge someone $50 for a trunk shampoo unless its filled with dirt, grime, and pet hair. If the trunk is almost spotless (which a lot of trunks are) we just include it in the price of an interior shampoo.

I found out today we have a meeting on monday with the service manager at jaguar, we're detailing our shop to show it off in hopes of getting a contract to do all their detailing and 3M work. (They also own the subaru dealership down the street!!)
