how to get a deep, wet, warm shine?

A glaze like Clearkote's RMG and a good carnauba will give you deep, warm wet shine.

Have you had the chance to compare RMG to Danase Wet Glaze 2.0 yet? I am stuck between the two of these

Accumulator... My plan now is to clay --> polish --> carnauba. I am sticking with Souveran paste, unless you know of something cheaper and more durable that you have used yourself and that will give me the same look as the Pinnacle....

Wait and see, I'm *VERY* confident that you'll find the "short version" of this detail plenty challenging ;)

For the money I've never found anything quite like Souveran, it has a "signature look" and even "just like it!" products were *not* IMO. Problem is that Souveran needs redone at almost every wash and it doesn't protect all that well.

If you already have it, just use it and see how things go.

If you haven't bought it yet, I'd try a wax from Collinite and see what you think. I've mentioned on other threads how I used Collinite on a pal's showcar, and "experts" (scare-quotes intentional ;) ) were saying how they could tell I waxed it with Dodo Juice because "nothing else looks like that". The point being, the LSP doesn't *really* matter all that much, it just tweaks things a little bit towards either the "brighter" or the "deeper/darker" end of the spectrum. On your paint I wouldn't think twice about such subtleties.

I guess I'd recommend Collinite 845 just because it looks fine, lasts pretty long, protects well, and it's *VERY* user-friendly as long as you don't put it on stupid-thick. Even works fine on black trim.

Tto get that deep, wet, warm shine you want to concentrate more on your paint prep than what LSP you are using IMHO.

Get yourself a nice ROB and some good foam pads and swirl remover. Once the paint is prepped correctly anything will look great on it.

Accumulator: Which Collinite did you use? For the prepping, I was planning on using the Menzerna IP/FP combo. But since I am using the PC, do you think it would be better to go with stronger products like Menzerna Super IP or Poorboys SSR3? Its mainly just swirls that I want to remove. Aslo, have you compared Menzerna FP with any other finishing polishes they have (ie. PowerFinish PO203S, Final Finish PO85U, MicroPolish PO87MC, SuperFinish PO106FA, Final Polish PO85RD).

z06meister: I do believe the prep is everything. What is your take on the polishes I mentioned above for a good prep? Not to sure if the Porter Cable XP is a "nice" ROB but its all I could afford right now. I just ordered it and ordering the polish is my next step. Im probably going to purchase Lake Country pads too.

What is your car? (to lazy to look back a few pages and see if you posted it) As far as the PB's goes I would not go PB3, the 2.5/1 combo is very nice IMHO. As far as Menzerna goes I like the SIP and 106fa or 085rd. Of course try the least aggressive polish first and if it does not work step up to the SIP or 2.5.

If you have very soft paint I would maybe go with the PB combo vs the menzerna ceramic polishes. Or you could just use Menzerna's IP and FPII. I have many polishes since they all work differently on different paints. Most of my customers are corvette people and the Menz Ceramic polishes work awesome on them.

z06meister: I have a 2001 mineral grey mustang. FYI, this mineral grey is different from other year mustangs. Not sure if this is soft paint. Since you have experience with many polishes, what is the difference b/t Menzerna FPII and 106FA and all their other finishes? Im most likely getting the Menzerna IP but not sure yet on the finishing polish.

First, get the polisher. I'd want something more powerful than the PC, but at least get that. Note that IME machines like that almost always require 4" pads to work effectively (or at least efficiently).

Where do i find these 4" pads? I am considering the Lake Country pads but the smallest they have are 61/2"

The stuff that was mistaken for Dodo was 476S (of all things!!). IMO that incident said a lot more about the "expert" than about the Collinite, but the idea is that with decent prep most any LSP will look just fine and you can win a show with a "daily driver/durability wax" as opposed to something geared towards wonderful looks.

You might want to consider Collinite 845 insulator wax, a liquid. Easy to use, durable, looks good, and is trim-friendly.

I'm not very familar with Menzerna products (to say the least!) but IMO people usually underestimate how hard it'll be to correct "minor" marring.

I sincerely doubt that you'll see any significant diff between any of their finishing polishes. This gets back to keeping things simple and IMO that includes not splitting hairs (well, at least not the ones that don't need split ;) ).
