Home Depot's Sale on Pressure Washers

If I hadn't bought my John Deere PW last summer, I'd be buying the one that Home Depot has on sale right now. It's a Ridgid 3,000 PSI 2.6 GPM, triple piston pump, Subaru powered PW with one of the nicest pressure guns I've ever seen. 400 bucks. Yowza. I guess I could use a "back up" pressure washer... :D

Don't need one but this may be too good to pass up! What are the things to look for as far as quality goes? I've heard one type of pump is better than the other. Is that right or is there little difference in types of pumps or other parts of a pw?

Yeah, the triple piston pump is the best (which this one has). I've done a bit of looking around, and it appears that Subaru makes a very good small equipment engine. The entire PW just has a well-made appearance to it. The tubular steel has a nice welding job, and quality paint/finish. The pressure gun is (as mentioned) one of the nicest and well made ones I've seen. I would definitely buy this one over my much more expensive John Deere.

Darnit...you got me hooked on my steam cleaner, and now you're making me consider a replacement for my electric power washer. :lol

We bought a Troy Bilt from Lowes last summer, only used it a couple of times but so far so good. We got the one with the Honda engine. I work for Lowes, and have seen far to many of the Troy-Bilts with the Briggs & Stratton engines be returned. Rather sad actually, Briggs used to make such high quality engines for mowers and the like... now they're crap just like everything else that used to be good.

Not interested in a Cam Spray Supe?

I don't have the wiring or circuit breaker to support it. Plus, the camspray doesn't have the total PSI or GPM of my JD or this Ridgid. And you could buy two of these Ridgids for the price of one camspray.

My electric one just crapped out after under 5 uses! Less than a month though so I'm sending it back and getting a gas one...

Yeah, that sounds about right. IMO, it's best to just bite the bullet, and spend the cash on a good gas (or camspray electric) PW right off the bat.

I got my JD from Lowes last summer. I noticed they had a bunch of different gas powered PW's in stock. Most of em had the cetrifugal type pumps. The better ones had, as you mentioned, the Honda engines. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any Troy Bilts that had *both* the Honda engine *and* the triple piston pump. I had to step up to the waaaay more expensive JD to get the engine and the pump.

At least the pumps are fairly easy to replace if yours should ever go out on ya.

Yea I figured if it lasted me a year of use it would be worth it, but damn the thing lost pressure when I was at the end of my wash today and was worse than my hose...

Good thing is I can get back 100 for the washer and 65 from buying additional hose and a new gun to get the electric thing to work with my camspray foam cannon, lol...

Is the triple piston pump that important? I was thinking of getting one of the cheaper troy built units with a briggs & stratton engine (worked fine in my 15 yr old lawn mower and in our new craftsman mower too)... Not trying to spend a whole lot but I might go with that rigid unit...

FWIW at my local HD it's 400 regular price not on sale
