Has anyone tried to market door to door?

Has anyone tried this for houses? I have done it for businesses butnot in a neighborhood. Just looking for some new ways to connect with new clients.

I would only do that if I saw a garage door open or car in the driveway to know what I was getting myself into -- otherwise you never know what mess you might find.

Probably this would only work in higher class neighborhoods anyway.

In most places you need a license to go door to door in a residential area. A company I used to work for had us do this once and they got fined so check this out before you do anything. I would only approach people outside, maybe working on their car so you have an excuse to come up and talk to them, otherwisw ringing doorbells tends to annoy people.

One sure way to NOT get business from me is to show up at my door uninvited peddling something. I moved to a secluded setting to get away from the rest of the world that continually attempts to harsh my mellow. Call me a misanthrope but I even have an Unwelcome Mat.

It doesn't seem to dissuade the Bible-toters that are Hell-bent on saving my soul though. They don't seem to comprehend the "Beware of Dog" sign either... the FIRST time. :biggrin1:

Are you a mobile detailer?

I used to spend hours and hours delivering colorful flyers, and giving away free washes & waxes to the local radio station so they would say my name on the air. Neither of these "marketing ideas" worked all that well.

If you're gonna spend the time to rustle up business, try this:

Search out the coolest car you can find in a busy area. Offer to do the car completely free, for maybe a month or two. Show up on time, perhaps even set up a sign. The idea is to keep that car DIALED, and to be seen CLEANING it.

I can assure you that you'll be seen and so will that car.

After a couple weeks, people WILL stop to ask questions, and check out the work.

You can either beat the streets handing out flyers and knocking on doors, but all sorts of people do that. Plus, it doesn't really show off your abilities, does it?

This other idea DOES just that. Good luck! :peace:

I wouldn't go door to door, but I have passed out by info to local businesses. I've also had clients post my info on their company vendor billboard. Going door to door really makes you look cheap and tacky IMHO.

You know how to get rid of the religous folks trying to come in your house to preach to you ?- tell that you'd like them to sit down and discuss getting into AmWay!
