Good Shop Vac?

I need a good model shop vac for my small business i just started running. Something easy to transport in the bed of my truck, but powerful. Preferably somewhat inexpensive.

Home depot has the best. $99.00 and lifetime warranty. I get a new one almost every year at no cost. You cant beat the performance either.

Home Depot's Rigid model/Brand......cant be beat for value !!!!

It is also good to have a vacuum that blows as well for cleaning vents and blowing water out of mirrors, unless you have an air compressor with you.

So if your vacuum sucks and blows, thats a good thing!:p

Normally I'm a huge Rigid available at Home Depot advocate... great price, incredible quality, dependable performance... but that's a great deal for that vac at Sears. They're usually a lot more expensive at Sears. Remember that a 12 gallon vac, like the one you're looking at, is pretty big. Five horses is more than sufficient. More than likely it's a great buy. However, I personally can attest for the great value and quality of the Rigid.

i got a little 5 gallon shop vac from walmart it was like $30 or $35 dollars it has enough power for me

I agree, I have a shop vac QSP pro, it has a bin to hold all of the attachments, is plenty powerful and very quiet!

There was a thread about some premium vacuums a while back that had some interesting info about H.P. ratings. It had a formula for convering watts/amps into horsepower. It seems that most of the H.P. claims are in "no load" conditions and really don't give a true comparison unless all the manufacturers use the same rating system.

If I remember correctly, it was posted by Ultgar.

I own that $30 or $35 vac from Wal-Mart. I used to use it as my primary vaccum, but I later found it not powerful enough for bigger tasks such as sucking water from mats. Also, now that I use a 2 1/2" hose, I can never go back to the tiny 1 1/4 inch hose. I strongly reccomend that whatever vac you get make sure it has a 2 1/2" hose (like just about every Rigid has).

That one from Wal Mart only has a 1 1/2 hp motor. If you get the shop vac professional or contractors line with at least 5 hp you'll be fine

I have the 'Hang Up' from Lowes.com.

Hang Up

1.5 HP, 1 gallon, light-very portable. Love the thing. When I bought it about 2 years ago, it was $23 shipped to my door...apparently it has gone up a little since then.

I think the wet/dry vac at Sears is a nice machine for $60. A similar Ridgid is about $70. The Sears model comes with both sizes of hoses and has a nice assortment of accessories. In addition, the catridge filters at Sears are on sale now--50%off--so I will probably be heading to sears today to get one.

Thanks for the link!

I just went to the Sears site and now they don't have the darn thing for sale anymore. I was just checking it out yesterday and the site said they had it at my local Sears. Guess I will have to see for myself. Damn, never pays to wait!
