Doing a QUICK polish, need help.

My father in law is planning on selling his 7 year old Malibu, he owns it, but it is just a work vehicle for him. He will throw some soap and water at it every 6 months or so, but that is all.

The color is that awful "sea foam green", the paint is not damaged, just neglected.

I've offered to detail it for him before he sells it, I will be lucky to get 3 hours with it and it would be my first attempt using my UDM and Menzerna, good car for a trial run on. So I'll wash and clay it of course, the next step is my question.

Can I use Menz IP on White LCC then KAIO on Green LCC, or will I have hazing still? That way I only have 2 steps, in order to save time.

Like I said, I'm trying to get it looking good in a short amount of time as a complete polishing newb.

If my combo is not going to work, any other recs??

I've got LCC pads..orange, white, and green.

I've got Menz IP, FPII, KAIO, and SG on hand for the UDM.

I've got Meg's Tech Wax 2 and DG AW for hand work if needed.

Thanks for any help! :wavey

Brodey1- If yo u*do* have hazing from the IP, the KAIO won't do anything for it, might even make it *more* noticeable. The NXT would probably be a better choice.

This is probably the exact kind of suggestion you *don't* want, but I'd do it with 1Z Paint Polish instead. I consider Menzerna a polish for jobs you're gonna get very, very nice...and this isn't that kind of job IMO.

I'd rather use something that's utterly foolproof with regard to ease of use and that does a bit of concealing along with the mechanical/abrasive correction (since you probably won't get all the flaws out).

Ditto for LSPs like the Klasse twins, which I only use over basically perfect finishes. I'd put some Collinite over the 1Z and have the whole job wrapped up in a few hours (with shine/beading/etc. that'll amaze non-Autopians).

If you have 3 hours washing, claying, 2 step polish, and LSP are gonna take more than 3 hrs on a neglected car.

Meguiars #66 is good. Though having to buy a gallon will leave him with a lot of product left.

Its the best product to use for quick detailers that have to be done in a couple hours.

I use it extensively.

Its better to use a product that provides good cut and good protection then a product that provides excellent cut but then skip the protection all together. #66 gives the most bang for your buck.

For my 2 step details i use it after Menzerna powergloss. So #66 will easily remove the marring from Intensive Polish. The fillers in #66 allows you to use a fairly aggressive pad to increase its cutting ability while hiding the marring. I'd use IP with a heavy cut pad and then #66 with a light cutting pad. Make sure to work in the #66 as you'll only hide the marring and not remove it. #66 you can also use polishing or even finishing pad and it acts as a glaze adding wetness and gloss with minimal cut.

Great suggestions. The products I have purchased up to this point are for my own 2 vehicles, so they are very specific to my own needs. Now I'm trying to switch gears quickly to help out my father in law, so everyones help is really appreciated.
