Collinite vs NJ Acid Rain. Collinite loses...

Maybe, but that goes against the experiences of many, and the results of that independent wax test. The wax test found 476 and the IW were neck and neck but the 476 edged it out in detergent resistence.

I'd be more inclined to figure its just a fluke or something I've done wrong. Maybe the detergents at the touchless I use are harsher than I thought. I did use a different touchless once, maybe they used something really harsh. When I re-apply the 476 I'll try a period of only QEW'ing, just really weird that it happened right after the NJ trip, as did the EX failure.

Strange...I'll keep everybody updated as I figure this one out...

I figured it out!

The Collinite isn't gone. I went to run the car through the touchless then QEW or S&W it at home like I usually do during the winter, and the touchless was closed due to a burst pipe. Well, I stopped off at the coin-op and sprayed it down real well, got it home, QEW/S&W'd it. The slickness was back, and in the rain even salty water is beading again. It must have been some residue the touchless was leaving on the paint surface that was interfearing with the slickness and beading...

GoodnClean- Cool, "hurray for Collinite" :D Gotta love that 476s!

Since there was some residual crap on your paint/wax all this time, I think it's even MORE impresssive that the Collinite held up so well!

I wonder if the residue was stuff the touchless was responsible for, or some of your NJ nasty stuff that the touchless didn't get off :nixweiss Either way, glad to hear the 476S held up! I too always get many months of protection from that stuff, even on the Volvo, which is outside 24/7.

It doesn't bead quite as well as it did, but it is definately still there.

I'm not sure whether it was the touchless or leftover residue from NJ, or maybe a little of both. NJ has always zapped my protectants (on several different cars) even back before I started using the touchless, thats why I just figured thats what happened this time. In the future I'll just spray it off and QEW, it really is just as quick as running it through the touchless.

From a "enviromental" stand

The "Acid Rain" isnt from anyone n NJ its from peeps in ohio western PA same with DC Acid Rain the shiznit has to get to the upper atmosphere to develop "acid" rain proof is in canada where rai kills trees but there are no "factories" for 1000 miles
