Cleaner Wax + Water = Spray Wax???

Gentlemen,

I've heard some people mix cleaner waxes like Mothers Carnauba Cleaner Wax or CarLack68 with water in a 1:10 dilution and uses it as a spray wax to maintain the slickness of the finish after every wash.

How true, logical, feasible is this?

Thanks

Grabby

Umm...just buy Surf City garage speed demon spray wax - pretty cheap, almost as good looking as spray souveran, and very easy to use.

I haven't used the Mother's wax you mention, but I'm pretty sure that won't be water soluble. The Carlack 68 should mix fine, although I would use the sealant, if I was going to do something like that.

Grabby- I wouldn't try it myself. To me (and hey, it's just IMO) this sounds like something goofy that somebody thought up just to sound like a... well, uhm...some people get a kick out of thinking up answers in search of questions.

Seems to me that it'd be an even less-optimal approach than using cleaner-wax (straight) at every wash  I'd expect to get more cleaning (though less uniform) and less protection than cleaner-waxes usually provide. I'd rather try it with a straight wax so the cleaners/etc. weren't a potential issue.

Some thoughts in case you do try it:

I'd be mighty careful about keeping such a mix well-shaken. And I sure wouldn't want it getting on/in places where I didn't want it; cleaner-waxes are notorious for leaving white residue and IME those residues can be quite tenacious.

Because the Carlack products are water-based while carnauba waxes are generally solvent-based.

Got it one!

I think Grabby you might be a bit confused.

Mothers Cleanerwax is an AIO (all-in-one) It cleans and seals the paintwork.

The Carlack and Klasses products people mix with water NOT THE AIO (ALL IN ONE). Its the sealant part, the second phase of a two step procedure.

If you want a high quality spray wax, pinnacle souveran spray wax is your answer!

I wouldn't mix any cleaner "wax" with water. Cleaner waxes have abrasives and cleaning agents. It's pointless. There are products designed for this purpose- Mothers FX, AW, Z8.

I have mixed S&W with Wax Shop's Super Glaze 5:1 and have had great sucess.

just have to shake the crap out of it with each use

So wait a minute. What should be mixed is the Carlack Pure Acrylic Sealant and not the AIO? I was just about to mix the AIO with water right now. I do have the one without the cleaners. I should mix that instead?

Got any thoughts on the dilution ratio?
