Clay bar ?

I have started to detail my moms truck . I got it washed and wheels cleaned up and setting in my shop . I have also started clay barring and am using QD for lubricant . After I do a small section I wipe it off . Will it be alright to set over night inside my shop until I can finish the rest of the detail tommorrow ? Also I don't have to rewash it to get the dust off do I ? Can I just use the QD to get the dust off ? Oh and one other thing , She has air vents on the lower left and right of her bumper that are painted the same color as the rest of her truck , Any suggestions on cleaning these ?

Yes you can leave it overnight in the shop. It will just get a little dusty. Use a California Duster or QD to remove that dust before you start again.

I'm not sure about the vents. It sounds like you need a small brush. You'd have to post pics or at least tell us what kind of truck it is (if the vents are OEM).

Oops I did forget to mention type . It is a 98 GMC S-15 Jimmy . The vents are OEM located to either side of the liscense plate .

And these vents are different from the grille?

It still sounds like a small detailing brush would be the answer. On my grille I have to use a 1/2" foam paint brush to clean it. That might also be an option.

I assume the area is too small or too complex to use a wash mitt.

yea different from the grill and I can get the surface of the vents pretty good with wash mit but not in between them , not to mention I am going to have a hard time polishing them .

OK. If they're too tight to fit a wash mitt in there, just use a foam paintbrush or something similar. That should work fine. You can use those for waxing too if you want. I bought a couple dozen of them in various sizes a while ago, because I saw them for $0.29 each. :)

I wouldnt really worry about polishing them. I highly doubt anyone is going to notice that the tight area in between vents still has some marring.

Agreed. That is if it even has any marring. If it's not even big enough to fit a wash mitt in there, I doubt anything has gotten in there that would scratch it much. Even if there is some marring, nobody will ever see it.
