Cashmere Silver Metallic 2011 BMW 128i

My name is Mike
A coworkers new-to-him car of about 2 months. He was determined enough for me to do it yesterday that he showed up in the rain with no guarantee that it would stop before the trip home. Good news: it stopped raining 3 hours in and the streets dried up so he should be able to enjoy the results for a few days.

The car arrived in good shape - just mostly dirty.

So, as usual, started with the wheels - in the rain, I might add. Pretty typical BMW here:

Wanted to go with a German theme so chose Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner.

Pretty color change:

And after a little agitation & rinse:

Rest of the decon -
Foamed with CG Citrus Wash (Red) + Optimum Power Clean
GDPWM with CG Citrus Wash Clear
"Clay" with Nanoskin Autoscrubber Pad + GG6 + ONR (clay lube dilution)
Exhaust tips with P21S Polishing Soap.

Except for the hood, the car was in really good shape. The hood had deep RIDS that I chose not to chase (it is the owner's DD and lives outdoors 24-7 - I didn't see much point in chewing off that much paint off of the bat). Did compound the hood with RUPES 21 + CG Hexlogic Orange + Menzerna FG400 and followed with RUPES 21 + LC Flat Green + Menzerna PO203S Power Finish. (Paint was on the hard side.) Rest of the car just got the Power Finish round.

Due to the color, Befores, 50-50s and Afters would have all looked the same.

Polish residue was removed in 2 stages, Megs D120 Glass Cleaner in process and followed with a heavy rinseless bath with Megs D114. LSP was Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid Seal. Final touch (some time later) - including wheels - was with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Spritz Sealant.

Afters - again the color & gloss worked against the camera. Looked very wet and much deeper in person than in the photos.

Thanks for viewing. Questions welcome.

Since I'm not a fan of BMW's :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :rofl

Great job !! Great reflections/clarity. Love the reflection of the garage door on the roof. (that's one way I judge my own work)

seems like i get a lot of silver paint and for the amount of work that goes into it, the results just never compare to a nice dark paint. the reflections do tell the story though. looks great mike !

great work mike.. i just did my titanium silver 3 series and i can see its shiney but i can't really tell if its better than it was.... but it has to be i know cuz my black bmw with the same process has a big difference..
