BMW pics-including an M1

This is a 1978 BMW M1, with only 3120 kilometers on the odometer (around 2000 actual miles) that was originally purchased in Italy and shipped over here. It was repainted at some point with a clearcoat/basecoat paint job. Obviously it is rarely driven, so I wanted the wettest look I could get, with protection being secondary (car sits under a cover probably 350 days a year). I used Clearkote's Vanilla Moose and Carnauba Moose Wax on it.

Here is my older son applying the CMW (he is really getting good at this!).

This is the engine. Those header tubes looked to be close to 2" in diameter!

This is what I meant by wet shine. ;)

A front and rear shot of the car:

Now on to a few more BMWs. I've done this Z8 in the past and the paint was in pretty good shape, despite the fact that this car is a driver. I went the sealant route on this one, using Klasse AIO and Platinum UPP.

The obligatory hood shot:

Now on to a BMW 750iL (all these BMWs are owned by the same person, btw!). I hadn't detailed it since this summer and it needed a little more oomph than a simple glaze and wax. I polished it out with Meguiars Swirl Free Polish, which on it's own, left a terrific wet shine. I followed with Poorboy's Polish w/Carnauba and topped with Clearkote's Carnauba Moose Wax. The owner of the car has requested I notify him every 3 months to get the 750 detailed, so I feel confident that PwC and CMW will bead for the whole 3 months until I clean it again and I (and my customer too) really like the wetter look it gives.

Trunk shot instead of a hood shot, just to be different!

Wow Scott, hit the motherload of BMW's! That M1 is incredible, although I never really liked the styling. All of them look great!

Only problem though :doh

I forgot to get an interior shot!

What else can I say....The man knows how to take pics :D :D :D

Serious Scott, great job as usual  no matter what products you use.

Defects I found? Well, the M1 wheels were balanced by a butcher or something. Did you noticed how the weights are on the right front wheel? :shocked (on a car like that  )

I finally just detailed a black Hummer also. Unfortunately I couldn't get a pic, because by the time I got done, it was dark....hence the size of those suckers!!!

Nice job on the H2!!:xyxthumbs

I know this has been covered before, but I can't find the thread. Where can you find the carnuba moose wax and the poorboy's polish with carnuba? All I can seem to find is vanilla moose and regular moose wax... Help, thanks :)

Okay now I remember, you have to go to the order page for the carnuba moose. So I just need help with the poorboy's polish with carnuba.... Any thoughts as to which is better between vanilla moose and the poorboy's polish???

One stop shopping for CK, PB and MF's.

Specialty Motoring Products

Scott,

Great Job on all the Cars. The H2 looks dipped in chrome or plasticky, just the look of Klasse et al. Did you get to take the M1 for a spin?

Eric

Scott or JGV, will the vanilla moose or the poorboys polish strip everything I have underneath since they're polishes???

If you have removed the defects, the polishing effect of the products you've used to remove swirls and scratches won't be affected by PwC or VM. Either product will add more gloss and slickness to the paint.

I'd count on them to do it, specially if applied by machine.

Scott, I think he meant if they would strip any previous protectant on the surface.

wow...i think i saw one of those today. The front grils were slightly more triangualr though, and the rear end a little bit more subtle, but didnt look like and BMW ive seen befre
